OpenAIs „Sora“ ist beängstigend gut und wird die Videobranche verändern. Noch lassen sich KI-genierte Videos mitunter als solche erkennen. Und das geht so.

OpenAI just revealed Sora – an AI video generator that creates hyper-realistic scenes and animated worlds in moments. But the tech isn’t perfect. There are also concerns over misinformation, with OpenAI saying it’s taking actions to get ready for the 2024 presidential election, including prohibiting the use of its tools for political campaigning.

Sander Hagelaar hat mit seiner Installation „Fluid Current“ ein Gebilde geschaffen, auf dem Wassertropfen für energetischen Fluß sorgen und so kleine Leuchten zum glühen bringen.

The artist and designer explores his practice of challenging conventional notions and reimagining materials, harnessing here elements and movements encompassed within the natural world. With Fluid Current, water, typically considered incompatible with electricity, becomes an integral part of the electric circuit as droplets fall along polished aluminum strips before activating a luminous blue bulb upon impact.

Forscher*innen der Berliner Charité haben herausgefunden, dass der Danionella cerebrum, einer der kleinsten Fische der Welt, Geräusche machen kann, die so laut sind wie ein Schuss.

To produce sound, a rib that lies next to the swim bladder is moved by a special muscle into a piece of cartilage. When the rib is released it hits the swim bladder and makes the drumming sound. The rib is much harder in males, which explains why females do not produce sounds.

The scientists have not established why the fish make such loud sounds but suggested it could help navigate murky waters or be an aggressive tactic used by males to warn off competition.

Doom auf ’nem Rasenmäher spielen

Husqvarna bietet von April bis September 2024 ein Software-Update für ein paar ihrer Rasenmähroboter an, mit dem es sich auf jenen Robotern dann Doom zocken lässt. Keine Ahnung, ob das Leute dazu bewegen wird, so ein Ding zu kaufen, aber wer schon eines hat, kann dann halt zocken. Mit einem weiteren Update kommt Doom dann wieder weg. Kein schlechter PR Schachzug.
