Mit einer Körperlänge von etwa 36 Zentimetern und einer Schwanzlänge bis zu 45 Zentimetern bei einem Gewicht von 1,5 bis 1,8 kg zählt das Königsriesenhörnchen zu den größten Vertretern der Hörnchen. Das Fell ist sehr bunt und variabel gefärbt. Die Rückenfärbung kann rotbraun, kastanienbraun oder schwarz sein, ebenso die Flanken, der Kopf und der Schwanz. Der Bauch und die Halsunterseite sind weiß, die Vorderbeine cremefarben. An den Ober- und Unterschenkeln können lange, schwarze Streifen vorhanden sein. Der Kopf ist braun oder beige gefärbt und die Innenseiten der Ohren sind weiß, die Nase ist rosa. Die Ohren besitzen auffällige, rot- bis kastanienbraune Ohrbüschel.

Dafür wurden 65-mm-Film-Aufnahmen mit mit dem Sound aus 11.000 Stunden Audio-Aufnahmen unterfüttert, die damals während der Mission entstanden sind. Und das sieht ziemlich fantastisch aus.
Miller and his team collaborated with NASA and the National Archives (NARA) to locate all of the existing footage from the Apollo 11 mission. In the course of sourcing all of the known imagery, NARA staff members made a discovery that changed the course of the project — an unprocessed collection of 65mm footage, never before seen by the public. Unbeknownst to even the NARA archivists, the reels contained wide format scenes of the Saturn V launch, the inside of the Launch Control Center and post-mission activities aboard the USS Hornet aircraft carrier.
The find resulted in the project evolving from one of only filmmaking to one of also film curation and historic preservation. The resulting transfer — from which the documentary was cut — is the highest resolution, highest quality digital collection of Apollo 11 footage in existence.

The other unexpected find was a massive cache of audio recordings — more than 11,000 hours — comprising the individual tracks from 60 members of the Mission Control team. “Apollo 11” film team members wrote code to restore the audio and make it searchable and then began the multi-year process of listening to and documenting the recordings. The effort yielded new insights into key events of the moon landing mission, as well as surprising moments of humor and camaraderie.

Because obviously. …I was recently diagnosed with sleep apnea, and now have my own CPAP torture machine. Seriously, these things are awful and create as much discomfort as they prevent. So I may as well have some fun with this thing while it’s intruding on my life.
Das ist mal eine gar nicht so schlechte Beschäftigungsidee für einen Samstagabend wenn man 3-12 Freunde eingeladen hat und vielleicht sogar ein Teil der Familie mit da ist.
Ich komme drauf, weil ich noch 400 bespielte aber gänzlich unbeschriftete VHS-Kassetten auf Arbeit rumstehen habe, die da vor 14 Jahren mal als „Spende“ reinkamen und für die ich vor 13 Jahren extra mal noch einen unfassbar teuren Videorekorder gekauft hatte, den ich bis heute nie benutzt habe. Ich dachte wohl, da könnte man nochmal irgendwas mit Kunst draus machen. Was war ich noch naiv vor 13 Jahren. Wobei… bin ich immer noch. Man weiß ja nie, was für Schätze sich auf den Tapes tatsächlich befinden. Um das heraus zu finden, könnte man ja glatt mal VHS Roulette spielen. Allerdings wohl dann eher lieber nicht auf Arbeit.
Natürlich sagt sie nicht wirklich „Hi“, aber freundlich gucken kann sie trotzdem irgendwie.
I filmed this during work at Purgatory Creek (off of San Marcos River). He is an elderly Common Snapping Turtle. You can tell he is aged by all of the algae on his shell (not harmful to his health), and the cataracts in his eyes. He is super friendly, and curious, which is an odd trait for a snapping turtle to have, they are usually very shy and skittish. I did not touch, harass or feed this turtle for this video. He came to me on his own free will.

We took this ball to the beach and after close to 2 hours to pump it up, we pushed it around for about 10 fun filled minutes. That was when the wind picked it up and sent it huddling down the beach at about 40 knots. It destroyed everything in its path. Children screamed in terror at the giant inflatable monster that crushed their sand castles. Grown men were knocked down trying to save their families. The faster we chased it, the faster it rolled. It was like it was mocking us. Eventually, we had to stop running after it because its path of injury and destruction was going to cost us a fortune in legal fees. Rumor has it that it can still be seen stalking innocent families on the Florida panhandle. We lost it in South Carolina, so there is something to be said about its durability.
