Wand aus Seifenblasen

Seifenblasen gehen immer. Riesenseifenblasen sowieso und jetzt, wo ich weiß, dass es die auch noch eine Nummer größer gibt, muss ich die natürlich hier drin haben.

Die Projection Wall von Rintaro Hara ist eine vom Boden bis zur Decke reichende Installation, an der Seile in Seifenlauge getaucht werden. Die werden dann von Besuchern über ein Rollsystem hochgezogen. Hinter dem Gitter aus Seilen pusten dann Ventilatoren die großen Blasen in den Raum. Wie eine Wand aus Seifenblasen. Geil.

Ein Kurzfilm, der einen Einblick in das Leben und Schaffen von Ronald ‚Riskie‘ Brent zeigt. Riskie ist in Compton, Kalifornien, aufgewachsen, wurde dort zum Streetart-Künstler und ist heute für die bekanntesten Album-Cover des HipHop-Labels Death Row Records verantwortlich.

A street artist raised in Compton, CA during the city’s most violent years, Ronald ‚Riskie‘ Brent had an unwavering determination that landed him a job at Death Row Records. Little did he know at the time that he would go on to create the most iconic album artwork in hip hop history. Never known to the public, Riskie speaks out for the first time.

Dekonstruktion einer Küche in Stop Motion

Den begnadeten Holzhandwerker Frank Howarth hatte ich hier schon öfter mal im Blog. Anders als bei seinen sonstigen Videos, die im Regelfall das Entstehen von etwas Neuem zeigen, dekonstruiert er in diesem hier mal seine Küche – in Stop Motion. Er dreht den gezeigten Schaffensprozess damit um. Schöne Idee – und die Küche hat ihre besten Jahre offensichtlich schon hinter sich gebracht.

„The first real phase of the kitchen remodel is removing the old kitchen. This should have taken a day but took 5 days as I shot the whole process in stop motion with 5,237 still images. The first 3 days were removing the contents of the kitchen. The last 2 days were removing the appliances and demolishing the cabinets.“

Stop Motion ausm Schlafzimmer: Going Fishing

Sehr schöne Stop-Motion-Arbeit von Animationskünstler Guldies, der das Dingen auf seinem Schreibtisch im Schlafzimmer gebaut hat.

After months of hard work GOING FISHING is finally here. I have never worked so hard. The animation is filled to the brim with new stuff I’ve never tried before. I animated with branches and leaves, paper, clay, fabric, fishing lures, forks and stones and moss and EVERYTHING I could think of.

Verlassene Pianos

Romain Diery fährt durch die Welt und fotografiert jede Menge verlassener Orte. Bei seinen Streifzügen hat er ein Objekt besonders häufig vor die Linse bekommen: Pianos aller Couleur.

He said: “The series is a project that is really close to my heart. At first people always wonder whether they are paintings or photographs. I try to make the atmosphere very peaceful and the textures and light as natural as possible. People tell me they feel immersed as if they can hear some notes of the music still. I am often asked why the piano but this instrument has been with me since I was very young and as a piano teacher is an integral part of my life today.”

Schon ein bisschen faszinierend. Wie ein großer, dicker Klumpen Knete. Nur halt Titan – und bisschen heißer.
