Kennt ihr das? Irgendwo Fotos finden, die ihr vor zehn, fünfzehn, zwanzig Jahren mal gemacht habt? Oder besser noch: irgendwo Fotos finden, die andere zu der Zeit von euch mal gemacht haben? Diese Gefühl, des kurzen Innehaltens, des sich in der Vergangenheit verlieren, des Staunens, des Wunders auch?
Ich habe das regelmäßig mal, wenn ich über alte Fotos stolpere. Dann denke ich, so viele Fotos lässt du heute gar nicht mehr entwickeln drucken. Dann empfinde ich Wehmut. Kurz. Nehme mir vor, daran was zu ändern, obwohl ich insgeheim weiß, dass meine Festplatte mein heutiges Fotoalbum ist und das sich daran so schnell auch nichts ändern wird.
Lange Rede, kurzer Sinn: Das Blog Internet K-Hole sammelt von irgendwelchen Leuten Fotos, die im Damals gemacht worden sind. Dutzende Momente, des „weißt-du-noch“.

„Fear and Loathing on the Road to Hollywood“ (1978) also known as „Fear and Loathing in Gonzovision“ is a short documentary produced by BBC Omnibus (basically, arty British tv series). It pictures Hunter S. Thompson in the late 70’s, when he was eventually getting bigger than life. It was directed by Nigel Finch.
This smoothly directed road trip movie pairs Thompson with his inseparable fellow, famous illustrator, Ralph Steadman. The party travels to Hollywood via Death Valley and Barstow from Las Vegas being closely pictured by BBC crew and certainly interviewed at the spot.

Geile Idee! Sound-Designer Richard Devine hat sich mit einem kleinen Fieldrecorder in die Kuppel der Abhörstation auf dem Teufelsberg gemacht und mal die Klangbreite darin aufgenommen. Klingt, als hätte er dann noch ordentlich Delay drüber gepackt. Wenn er das nicht tat, ist das der wahrscheinlich beste native EFX-Room, den man in Berlin finden kann.
Und was besonders klasse ist, er hat die Drei Minuten und ein bisschen zum Download offen – ihr wisst, was ich jetzt mache.

Note: that some distant birds and wind can be heard through some of the recordings. This was due to some of the small holes in the ceiling structure, allowing some slight outside bleed.

My Modern Met hat gerade eine ziemlich kuhle Serie animierter Gifs, die ihnen vom Fotograf Mike Pecci zugesandt wurden. Er schickte die dort hin, nachdem er die Cinematic Gifs von Jamie Beck und Kevin Burg gesehen hatte, die vor kurzem erst rumgingen. Er war etwas überrascht, dass andere offenbar die ähnliche Idee verfolgten und damit Erfolg zu haben schienen. Er sagt allerdings auch, dass er da weitaus mehr als „nur“ animierte Gifs macht.
„This was a theory I have been working on for a few years now, and ‚Bam!‘ these guys are doing the same thing! Insane!“ Rather than beating himself up about the fact that he didn’t release his gifs first, Pecci was happy for Beck and Burg’s success. „My friend asked me if I was sore about not breaking them first,“ he says, „and I said hell no man! It’s all about the photography!“
After about two years in development, Pecci just released his very own set of gifs he calls Living Images. „They are more than gifs,“ he tells us, „they are high definition images that can fill your screen and high concept poses and actions the really make you stop and stare. We are using all sorts of cutting-edge technology, and working hard with the new HTML5 testing a new technique that hasn’t been done yet. Really cool stuff.“
Wie auch immer, auch seine Gifs sind verdammt schön anzuschauen.

19 KommentareNicolas, von dem ich hier öfter schon Mixe hatte, die er da noch unter dem Namen Blazin Bionic zusammenschnürte, hat jetzt ein neues Pseudonym. Ab sofort nämlich nennt er sich Oakin, ansonsten hat sich nichts geändert. Mit viel Gefühl und technisch sehr präzise mixt er weiterhin deepen, aber dennoch verdammt tanzbaren Dubstep zu einer tollen Reise für diesen Abend, von dem sich die Sonne gerade zu verabschieden beginnt. Toller Mix.
