Tiny Desk Concert: Tame Impala

Tame Impala mit euer Platte bei NPRs Tiny Desk Concert.

Kevin Parker’s team came back with two words: „all acoustic.“ I was dumbfounded, not only by the notion of an acoustic Tame Impala set but also by the idea of the band playing the real Tiny Desk. In 2020, Tame Impala was able to toe and, by some standards, cross the line for its Tiny Desk (home) concert. Here at NPR headquarters, Parker and the crew had to relinquish a certain level of control. „Let’s just try it and see what happens,“ Parker told me.

My attempt at drumming through TOOL’s discography in one take. I want to thank my family and friends for the endless support! I also want to thank everyone else for taking the time to share this experience with me. I have definitely gained a greater level of appreciation for the compositional work of Danny Carey and TOOL. Although I do not do Danny complete justice, being able to move past mistakes is something I learned. While I wish I could go back to fix things, I also feel a sense of accomplishment being able to complete something that was once just an idea. Additionally, I want to note that only songs with percussive elements were included. Sweat and Disgustipated were not included for copyright reasons.

螳螂捕蟬,黃雀在後 (Die Gottesanbeterin verfolgt die Zikade, ohne den Pirol dahinter zu bemerken)

CHAIN is a visually stunning and emotionally rich 3D animated short film inspired by the Chinese proverb “The mantis stalks the cicada, unaware of the oriole behind” (螳螂捕蟬,黃雀在後) — a saying that describes someone pursuing a goal while unaware of hidden dangers or greater forces watching from behind.
Through powerful visuals and atmospheric storytelling, the film explores this timeless idea, portraying the endless cycle of predator and prey, revealing nature’s survival instincts, and encouraging viewers to reflect on life’s deeper questions.
