Schlangen: Wie eine Braune Nachtbaumnatter an einem glatten Mast nach oben steigt

Ihr wisst: Schlangen sind mein Kryptonit und ich finde sie mehr eklig als faszinierend, aber eben auch faszinierend. Wissenschaftler haben jetzt eine Braune Nachtbaumnatter dabei gefilmt, wie diese mit einer „Lasso-Methode“ an einem glatten Mast nach oben steigt. Evolution in Echtzeit, 5x normal speed, oder so.

Biologists with Colorado State University and the University of Cincinnati discover a new way that snakes can move called „lasso locomotion.“ Here a brown tree snake uses this type of movement to climb a wide cylinder.

Wenn wir schon nicht reisen können, können wir uns wenigstens Aufnahmen ansehen, die das Fernweh zwar nicht kleiner machen, aber immerhin so etwas wie Kurzurlaubsstimmung aufkommen lassen.

In 2018 I took a trip with my friends Om and Mark to Iceland, it was also the first time I seriously explored drone photography and videography.

Gentleman mit Gitarre fällt auf dem Drum-Fill von Phil Collins‘ „In the air tonight“ in ein Klavier

Das Video des Herren ging in seiner originalen Version letztes Jahr rum. Ich glaube, er hatte einen über seinen Durst getrunken, fiel mit der Gitarre in das Klavier und zeterte recht ordentlich. Irgendwer hat nun das ikonische Drum-Fill von Phil Collins‘ „In the air tonight“ über genau jene Situation gelegt und ich lache darüber mehr als ich sollte.

Weil Pilze halt Pilze sind und die dann halt auch in dem Körper mit ihren gespritzten Sporen so weiter wachsen. Macht das lieber nicht, kann ein paar Wochen Krankenhaus nach sich ziehen.

Days before the ER visit, he had decided to use mushrooms by first boiling them down into what he called „mushroom tea,“ then filtering the mixture through a cotton swab and intravenously injecting it. Soon after, he developed symptoms including lethargy, jaundice, diarrhea, and nausea, along with vomiting up blood.

By the time he was admitted to the hospital’s intensive care unit, multiple organs had started to fail, including his lungs and kidney. Tests revealed that he had both a bacterial and fungal infection in his blood, meaning that the mushrooms he injected were now literally feeding off him and growing. Among other treatments, he was given an intense course of antibiotics and antifungal drugs.
