Das portugiesische Serralves-Museum hat aktuell eine Ausstellung des britischen Künstlers Anish Kapoor. Teil der Ausstellung ist seine Installation „Descent into Limbo“, ein 2,5 Meter tiefes Loch, das mit einem besonderen Schwarz gestrichen ist und die Illusion einer tiefenlosen Leere erzeugen möchte.
Ein Museumsgast ging wohl davon aus, dass es sich dabei um einen schwarzen Kreis handelt und musste schmerzlich feststellen, dass diese tiefenlose Leere nach nicht mal drei Metern ihr Ende findet. Er stürzte da wohl rein. Der 60-jährige Mann wurde im Krankenhaus behandelt und ist wieder zu Hause.

The work, Descent into Limbo (1992), consists of a cube-shaped building, which can be entered by visitors, with a circular hole in the centre of its floor. The sides of the hole are coated in black pigment, giving the illusion of a depthless void.
