2 KommentareIch habe bis eben noch nie etwas vom „Dwile Flonking“ gehört, aber in englischen Kreisen war bzw. ist das wohl eine getanzte Sportart, bei der es irgendwie darum geht, die Gegner mit einem biergetränkten Mopp abzuwerfen, wofür ist dann Punkte gibt. Okay. Oma hatte Recht als sie sagte, „Egal wie alt du wirst, du lernst immer noch etwas dazu“.

„Dwile“ is a knitted floor cloth, from the Dutch dweil, meaning „mop“, with the same meaning in East Anglian dialect, and „flonk“ is probably a corruption of flong, an old past tense of fling.

Einen Kommentar hinterlassenEigentlich klar, aber bisher unentdeckt: das isoliert gesprochene „Stop“ am Anfang des Pixies-Song „Where Is My Mind?“ schaltet auf Googles Pixel-Telefonen einen laufenden Alarm aus. Damit konnten die damals ja keinesfalls rechnen und entschuldigten sich dafür bei Twitter.

The idea is that users only need to say „Stop“ or „Snooze,“ and their alarms will respond in kind. Ironically, this feature doesn’t work when there’s music in the background, specifically because Google wanted to avoid a situation like this one in which alarms could turn themselves off. Nonetheless, Pixies‘ isolated, spoken-toned „Stop“ effortlessly does the trick — maybe the band could make a remix that starts with „Snooze“ instead?

Ich mag kein Bier und auch diese Werbung wird daran ganz sicher nichts ändern. Glaube auch eh nicht, dass Leute, die Bier mögen, sich davon zum Biertrinken animieren lassen. Aber: wir sind ja nach wie vor erst am Anfang, der da noch kommenden Möglichkeiten und ich kann mir gerade im Bezug auf die durchaus schnelllebige Werbebranche vorstellen, dass KI als solche da mal durchrauscht und einiges an Aufgaben übernehmen wird, die jetzt noch von Menschen ausgeführt werden.

Luis war während der Streiks und Protesten vor ein paar Wochen in Paris unterwegs und hat sich auf die Suche nach den besten Croissants der Stadt gemacht. Unglückliches Timing? Vielleicht. Vielleicht aber auch nicht, denn die Frage nach guten Croissants ist halt schon existenziell.
