T-Shirt-Faltmaschinen

Ich habe nie darüber nachgedacht, wie Shirts in rauen Mengen zusammenlegt werden könnten. So viele hab ich jetzt auch nicht. Natürlich erschließt sich beim darüber Nachdenken, dass da wohl kaum irgendwer stundenlang am Stück steht, um Shirts zu falten. Also da gehe ich jetzt mal von aus. Jetzt, wo ich wo ich weiß, dass es dafür auch Maschinen gibt. Zack, zack, das nächste bitte.

Ein Roboter, der automatisch die Tweets von Donald Trump ausdruckt und verbrennt

Diese Zeiten treiben merkwürdige Blüten. Das Twitter-Verhalten von Donald Trump, beispielsweise, ist nur schwer auszuhalten. „Radikale Umstände brauchen radikale Vermeidungsstrategien“, dachte sich wohl jemand und hat mit Burned Your Tweet einen Roboter entwickelt, der automatisch jeden Tweet von Donald Trump ausdruckt und verbrennt.

Wenn ich das richtig sehe, bekommt Trump dann nach jedem seiner Tweets ein Reply von dem Bot, mit dem Video des brennenden Tweets, den den Trump gerade geschrieben hat. Ganz schön Meta. Obs Trump scheren wird ist fraglich. Tendenziell wohl eher nicht.

Endlich mal wirklich sinnvolle Roboter.

Goldfisch steuert Fahrzeug: Machine 2 Fish

Quentin Destieu und Sylvain Huguet von Gamerz arbeiten daran, einen Goldfisch autark ein Fahrzeug steuern zu lassen, auf dem der Goldfisch in einem Aquarium schwimmt. Ich habe keine Ahnung, wozu genau das gut sein soll, aber es scheint zumindest irgendwie zu funktionieren.

Machine 2 Fish is an artistic installation using a robotic experimental system that translates the movements of a living goldfish into the physical locomotion of a robot. It is a question of allowing a goldfish to move in a terrestrial universe thanks to this prosthesis. The aim is to create a pseudo-intelligent system linking the fish and the machine to a stand-alone device that refers to cyborgs and science fiction. This project was born in 2010 as part of a residency with the support of M2F Créations / Lab GAMERZ, the 2016 version embeds a new system of sensors and computer programming able to respond as closely as possible to the requirements of fish.

Amazons Alexa mit sprechendem Totenkopfschädel

Vienna Mike hat seiner Alexa einen Totenkopfschädel aufgepflanzt: The Yorick Project.

I like to decorate for Halloween, including various talking skeletons that I’ve set up over the years. For Christmas 2015, my wife gave me a great 3 axis talking skull with moving eyes so I could upgrade one of the skeletons from just a moving jaw skull. Then a friend suggested that there had to be other applications for the rest of the year. This got me thinking, and when I saw the Alexa Billy Bass I knew what I had to do, and the Yorick project was born. I’m pretty happy with the result:

Band aus Steinen: Rock Band

Neil Mendoza hat ein Maschinchen gebaut, das midigesteuert elektromechanische Gerätschaften verbindet, die mit kleinen Steinen Klänge erzeugen. Eine echte Rockband halt.

„The rock band is composed of electromechanical instruments that make music with rocks by throwing them through the air, slapping them and making them vibrate. The song that they’re playing, Here Comes the Sun, is biographical, describing the daily experience of a rock sitting on the ground. The rock band is made up of the following members…
Pinger – fires small rocks at aluminium keys using solenoids.
Spinner – launches magnetic rocks, Hematite, at pieces of marble. Rocks are launched by spinning magnets using Applied Motion applied-motion.com stepper motors.
Slapper – slaps rocks with fake leather.
Buzzer – vibrates the plunger of a solenoid against a piece of marble.
The whole project is controlled by a computer running a MIDI player written in openFrameworks talking to a Teensy. The machines were designed using Autodesk Fusion 360 and Autodesk Inventor.“

Ein selbstfolgender Roboter, der Lasten befördert

Grandiose Erfindung, die es um Längen leichter machen dürfte, den Einkauf ohne Auto nach Hause zu bekommen. Tanith denkt zuerst ans Plattenschleppen, aber auch für jene, die generell und aus welchen Gründen auch immer, Probleme damit haben, schwere Dinge schleppen zu können.
