Eine Oscar-prämierte Glasbläser-Doku aus dem Jahr 1958 – auf Jazz: Glass

Glass. Und Jazz.

Glass is a 1958 non-verbal documentary short by Bert Haanstra that contrasts glassblowing techniques used inside the Royal Leerdam Glass Factory with more modern industrial machines. The first half shows several men at work using traditional glassblowing to create ornate objects like vases and mugs set against jazz music, while the second part shifts abruptly into the mechanized world of industrial glass production set to a whimsical score of more synthesized music. Also, there’s a ton of great smoking! It’s a really unusual little film that went on to pick up an Oscar for Documentary Short Subject in 1959.

Kurzfilm: Alone

Ich weiß ehrlich gesagt nicht, wie es ist, wirklich einsam zu sein. War ich nie – und eigentlich wollte ich das auch nie wirklich.

Dieser Kurzfilm zeigt Dinge, die Menschen vielleicht tun, wenn sie allein sind. In manchen Dingen finde ich mich wieder, denn auch auch ich bin hin und wieder für ein paar Stunden allein mit mir selber und mach dann halt so Dinge, die man wohl so tut, wenn man alleine ist.

Und ich weiß auch gar nicht, ob das diese vermittelte Traurigkeit verdient hat, aber ich mag diesen Film trotzdem irgendwie.

An experimental exploration of who we are when no one is watching: the freedom we experience, and the loneliness—the way we sing, dance, love, cry, and dream when we are alone.

Flying Lotus – FUCKKKYOUUU (a short film by Eddie Alcazar) [NSFW]

Ich hatte den Kurzfilm hier schon im letzten Monat. Kurz darauf aber wurde er von Warp auf privat gestellt. Jetzt ist er offenbar öffentlich und bleibt das hoffentlich auch.

Der ziemlich strange Film wurde von Eddie Alcazar gemacht, die Musik kommt von Flying Lotus.

„With the ability to travel in time, a lonely girl finds love and comfort by connecting with her past self. Eventually faced with rejection she struggles with her identity and gender, and as time folds onto itself only one of them can remain.“

[Update] Shit. Als ich das Video hier eingebettet hatte, lief es noch ohne Passwort. Mittlerweile hat Warp es verpasswortet. Müsst ihr erstmal mit dem Trailer Vorlieb nehmen.

Warp hat vor einer Stunde den ziemlich strangen Kurzfilm FUCKKKYOUUU hochgeladen. Dieser wurde von Eddie Alcazar gemacht, die Musik kommt von Flying Lotus.
