Watch as the painting is stabilized, the tears mended and the missing paint retouched and integrated with the image. All of the techniques and materials are archival and fully reversible. Once the work is completed the painting will be ready for another 150 years.
The installation is located on the island of Paxos in the Adriatic Sea. This work unfolds in a 400-year-old ruin in the village of Kagatika to offer an aesthetic and unique contrast between the old and the new, waiting for the public to contemplate.
The mesh material is colourized with spray paint in 120 different colour shades, and each layer is getting more prominent when you walk to the window from where you can see the wideness of the view. For the ones who will go there, the installation is a part of the Paxos Contemporary Art Project and will run until September 9th.
A spokesman for the museum says that the “visitor is OK [and] almost ready to return home”. He added that “security protocol was followed” and there are warning signs as well as a member of gallery staff inside the installation. It has been temporarily closed while the institution assesses what happened but it hopes to reopen it “in a few days”. According to the Público newspaper, the injured man is Italian and around 60 years old.
The work, Descent into Limbo (1992), consists of a cube-shaped building, which can be entered by visitors, with a circular hole in the centre of its floor. The sides of the hole are coated in black pigment, giving the illusion of a depthless void.
Vans and the Van Gogh Museum proudly partner to present an artfully designed collection utilizing Van Gogh masterpieces across iconic Vans Classics and premium apparel silhouettes, available worldwide August 3. The Van Gogh Museum will dedicate a portion of its profits from this project to the preservation of Vincent van Gogh’s legacy and collection of art; keeping it accessible for future generations.
This is an art object, not functional as a molotov cocktail.
“What’s More American Than Violence?” is a sculptural installation and series of dysfunctional art objects inspired by Edward Abby’s “The Monkey Wrench Gang.” The installation features a fully-functional molotov cocktail vending machine, full of converted Mezcal El Silencio bottles, customized with a limited edition, hand signed and numbered, spot-UV instructional art sticker, and custom “STEAL THE FIRE” bandana, each designed by artist Phil America and designer Dino Nama. The piece seeks to call attention to the ease of access to deadly weapons in America, and a large portion of proceeds of each sale are donated to Every Town.
This series is limited to 200 bottles available online, and an extremely limited number of bottles available for $5 at the vending machine on Melrose Ave, released at an undisclosed date and time leading up to and during the “We Stole the Fire” art exhibition.
