Drum ’n‘ Bass aus den 90ern und das instant einsetzende Bedürfnis, sich mit einem Drink oder einem Dübel (oder beidem) in die Hängematte legen und der Sonne beim Untergehen zusehen zu wollen. Bandcamp startet hauseigenen Crowdfunding- und Vinylpress-Service

Bandcamp reicht es offenbar nicht mehr nur als Host für Digitales und Partner für den partiellen Vertrieb physischer Tonträger im Netz zu stehen und möchte seinen Nutzern nun wohl noch mehr die Möglichkeit geben, ihre Musik unter etwaig Interessierte zu bringen. Nun auch mit hauseigenem Service, der Crowdfunding für Vinylpressungen ermöglichen soll: Create Vinyl with Bandcamp. Ein Gamechanger, der Soundcloud endgültig abhängen könnte. Schöne Sache, das!

Today, we’re offering a first glimpse of an initiative from Bandcamp that aims to address these challenges. Our new vinyl pressing service streamlines the financing, production, and fulfillment of vinyl records. With no up-front investment, an artist or label can create a vinyl campaign and start taking orders almost immediately. Once they reach their minimum goal, we press their records and ship them to their fans.

The new service eliminates risk, since fans’ orders finance the pressing, rather than the artist or label. It eliminates hassle, since we press the records, print the packaging, and ship to fans (and fulfill digital too). It offers complete control, with the design and pricing up to the artist, and Bandcamp taking no ownership of the record. And it produces a quality result: our manufacturing partner has over 60 years experience pressing vinyl, so the records look, and sound, great.

Downgrade 1.0 – Ableton Live LoFi / Vapourwave Effect Racks

Hübsches, vielleicht nicht ganz ernstgemeintes Downgrade für Ableton Live, welches
Tom Cosm entwickelt hat und zum Download zur Verfügung stellt. Für Vintage-Sounds ala Bandsalat und so. Klingt ein wenig so, als wäre Live besoffen.

Downgrade is a collection of 5 Ableton Live racks that wobble, crunch and deliciously degrade any sound you feed into them.

Perfect to add a retro / vapor flavor to your sound.

Each module has it’s own special area, and they can be used in any order to create a wide range of character.

Bienen, die in Blüten schlafen

Der Natur-Fotograf Joe Neely hat neulich eher zufällig zwei Bienen dabei beobachtet, wie die sich in eine Blüte betteten und – na klar – die Kamera gezückt. Und diese Bienenart schläft wohl ganz gerne mal in Blüten. Voll schön.

“Wel,l I never knew that bees slept in flowers but as it turns out these bees (Diadasia diminuta) sleep in the orange flowers called Globe Mallows.” The Diadasia diminuta – or simply the globe mallow bee – collects pollen from its favorite food plant, globe mallow (Sphaeralcea). According to Forest Service at the United States Department of Agriculture, their nests are commonly found in partially compacted soil along the margins of dirt roads in the western United States. The globe mallow bees play a major role in the flower’s reproduction. “The bees become covered with pollen visiting the flowers [and] most of this pollen is groomed into the pollen basket on the hind legs and taken back to the nest,” the organization writes on its website. “However, some remains on the body and is deposited on the stigma of each of the next few globe mallow flowers visited. Thus, Diadasia contributes to globe mallow reproduction.
