Der Künstler Aki Inomata hat mit mehreren Zoos in Japan dafür gesorgt, dass die dort lebenden Biber mit Holzstücken versorgt wurden und die Biber das machen lassen, was Biber gemeinhin ganz gerne tun: daran nagen. Später wurde die Holzstücken wieder eingesammelt und ausgestellt. Das stellt die Frage, wer hier eigentlich der Künstler ist. Der Biber? Aki Inomata? Ich mag diese Idee außerordentlich gerne.
So are these wooden sculptures art? And if so, who is the artist? Is it the beaver? Is it Inomata? The shapes of these carvings are also a result of the specific types of wood. Beavers will carve around tough and brittle sections of grain so one could also argue that the wood has provided its own set of instructions to follow.
