Ein KommentarDubstep scheint mittlerweile ja wirklich fast Geschichte. Es gab viele Entwicklungen, die aus dem Dubstep kamen und sich heute im Bass Music Bereich wiederfinden, aber vom klassischen UK-Dupstep scheint mir persönlich nicht viel übrig geblieben zu sein. Ist halt so und gar kein Grund zur Traurigkeit. Musik fließt. In die Richtungen, in der die Menschen Durst auf Neues haben. Dennoch mag ich den alten Sound immer noch verdammt gerne.
Offenbar geht es der russischen DJ Shutnizza ähnlich und so mixt sie ihre ganz persönliche History of Dubstep. Und das Dingen holt mich voll ab. Jede Menge Tunes, die mittlerweile Klassiker sind, Deepness und jede Menge Bass. Geil!

Eine ganz wunderbare Selektion von Lieblingsliedern, die Mattmosphere da reflektorisch an einem sonnigen Nachmittag zu einem Mix zusammengelötet hat. Funktioniert hier auch trotz Bewölkung ganz formidabel und wird mich ganz sicher auch noch über das lange Wochenende begleiten. Sonne hin, Sonne her.

Interessante akustische Variante eines klassischen Hirnficks, die die Frage stellt, ob man in den vier Sekunden „Yanny“ oder „Laurel“ hört. Offensichtlich gibt es darauf unterschiedliche Antworten, die unterschiedlichen Faktoren geschuldet sind.

Bei Verge macht man sich an eine wissenschaftliche Auseinandersetzung: It has to do with your sound card, your ears, and your brain.
The secret is frequency. The acoustic information that makes us hear Yanny is higher frequency than the acoustic information that makes us hear Laurel. Some of the variation may be due to the audio system playing the sound.. But some of it is also the mechanics of your ears, and what you’re expecting to hear. Older adults tend to start losing their hearing at the higher frequency ranges.. It’s a phenomenon you can mimic on a computer.. if you remove all the low frequencies, you hear Yanny. If you remove the high frequencies, you hear Laurel

2 KommentareThe Glitch Mob haben vor ein paar Tagen ihr neues Album „See Without Eyes“ in die Regale und die Clouds dieser Welt gebracht. Das ballert wie gewohnt. Außerdem haben sie dem Album eine komplette Animation gegönnt, die es bei YouTube gibt.

Wenn so ein Mashup bisher ganz unberührte Ebenen besteigt. Und wie es passt. Offenbar besser als der Macher angenommen hatte. Das Dingen zieht seit gestern so richtig seine viralen Kreise. Der für dieses Mashup verantwortliche LOTI schreibt dazu:

The original video for TIA caused a great conversation, and still is. But most of the energy surrounding it is negative. I wasn’t purposefully to be ignorant to the climate we’re in, but i think the fact that so many people of all races are enjoying this is something to look at.

Ich liebe das, was Vince Watson macht, schon länger und hab immer wieder mal was von ihm in meinen Mixen. Vor 14 Tagen hat er sein nun schon neuntes Studioalbum veröffentlicht und ich höre es hier seitdem in Dauerschleife. So wunderbar emotional und sommerlich kann Techno sein. Ein Album, das durchweg dazu einlädt, barfuß auf saftigen Wiesen in der Sonne zu tanzen. Zu leben, zu lachen und zu lieben.
Für mich das Album des Sommers 2018 und schon jetzt eine der Platten des Jahres. Schlichtweg wundervoll. Hier zum digitalen Download bei Bandcamp oder halt beim Plattenhändler eures Vertrauens.
2 Kommentare‚Via‘ is the 9th full length album by Vince Watson, returning to his House & Techno roots and delivering 12 shimmering tracks for every moment.
Via’s story began on the road. The concept came through Vince’s touring between gigs by car and train in mainland Europe. He wanted a driving, deep, musical sound palette to immerse himself in between gigs and could not find any current appropriate techno album he wanted to listen to.
So he did the next best thing…he created one.
The album reflects the relentless movement from one gig to the next, giving insight into the artists mind whilst cooling off from one show and seeking adrenalin for the next.
Over 12 tracks, ‚Via‘ brings that signature deep sound that VW fans have loved since Mystical Rhythm first appeared in 1999.
‚Via‘ is also the first in many new projects this year from Vince Watson. 2018 see’s Vince reserve his current house and techno production for his own name, however his other musical output (Electronica, Piano, Ambient, Jazzy) will be broken up into several different artists names in order to focus more in each genre.
