DJs do not only move dance floors but are simultaneously entrepreneurs who need to perform just as well online, as they do on stage.

Starten wir zurückhaltend in den kleinen Freitag. Mit einer Stunde wundervollster Elektronik, Ambient, Downbeats und jeder Menge Unaufgeregtheit. Wirklich toller Mix, den Space Kadett da für die Pingipung Podcast Episode geschraubt hat. Hat etwas herbstlich Warmes mit akustisch gelben Sonnenstrahlen, die hin und wieder durch die Wolkendecke schimmern.
Einen Kommentar hinterlassenI have never shared this with anyone but like most of my sets, this mix mostly follows my classic storytelling structure: start slow, build it up, bring it down, and end with something that will grab your attention so you know it’s time to go home. Instead of building up the energy, I went for intensity with a little break in the middle and a heavy dose of what my brain thinks is that special Pingipung sauce. In this vain, I wanted to share pretty music that’s easy to listen to and go on an exploration with the listener and challenge you a bit by also travelling along darker and more obscure paths.
Also, it’s an absolute honour to have made this so make yourself comfortable, close your eyes and enjoy the sounds that flow from your speakers.
Zufällig drüber gestolpert, dafür aber davon ganz schwer angetan. Russell Holzmann aka @starpowerdrummer spielt Cycle-Ones „Cast Away“ mal eben am Schlagzeug mit. Ganz schön gut.

Für mich eines der schönsten Lieder von Björk und in dieser Version des PS 22Chorus auch schon mal gesehen, aber hier kurioserweise noch nie geparkt. Das sei hiermit nachgeholt. Weil: so schön. Aufgenommen vor nun mehr schon 14 Jahren.

Ein KommentarHainbach hat hier mit der Bandmaster Powerhouse ein alte schottische Drum Machine am Start, die damals nicht programmiert werden konnte. Dafür brachte sie wenige Beatloops auf 8-Spur-Kassetten, die dann ganz minimal variabel waren. Heute etwas dünn in der Editierbarkeit, aber mit ganz wunderbarem LoFi-Sound.
Einen Kommentar hinterlassenThe Bandmaster Powerhouse is a drum machine unlike any other: it uses 8-Track tape recordings of drum and percussion loops to play back „Funky Beat“, „Modern Waltz“ and „Disco“ patterns. Made by GR International in Perth, Scotland in the 1970s, only few survive and the tapes are even rarer. The warble and flutter, especially when pitched down, is horrible from a technical perspective, but it adds layers of texture that are a dream come true for the rare groove enthusiast.
Weniger wegen U2, aber die waren jetzt nunmal die ersten, die in der Sphere in Las Vegas live aufgetreten sind und die visuellen Möglichkeiten in der größten Kugel der Welt sind wirklich spektakulär.
