Ich hatte die letzte Woche Urlaub und trotzdem einiges um die Ohren, so dass ich nicht wirklich zum Musikhören kam. Das ist seit heute wieder anders und da trifft es sich ganz hervorragend, dass es bei Ryans A Strangely Isolated Place einen neuen Isolatedmix gibt, der mich wieder ganz langsam in die Materie der Musik eintauchen lässt. Zurückhaltend entspannt serviert uns Milo Bragg von Future Primitive Records Ambient, Downbeats und Artverwandtes von Vinyl. Gefällt mir außerordentlich gut und macht den Wochenstart ein wenig angenehmer.

Kurzfilm: The Beatles – Now And Then – The Last Beatles Song

Weil es Popgeschichte ist. Und weil es der (vielleicht) wirklich letzte Beatles-Song ist, der nach so vielen Jahren dank KI und Yoko Ono fertiggestellt wurde, so dass das Buch der Beatles zu Ende geschrieben wurde.

Now and Then’s eventful journey to fruition took place over five decades and is the product of conversations and collaborations between the four Beatles that go on to this day. The long mythologised John Lennon demo was first worked on in February 1995 by Paul, George and Ringo as part of The Beatles Anthology project but it remained unfinished, partly because of the impossible technological challenges involved in working with the vocal John had recorded on tape in the 1970s. For years it looked like the song could never be completed. But in 2022 there was a stroke of serendipity. A software system developed by Peter Jackson and his team, used throughout the production of the documentary series Get Back, finally opened the way for the uncoupling of John’s vocal from his piano part. As a result, the original recording could be brought to life and worked on anew with contributions from all four Beatles. This remarkable story of musical archaeology reflects The Beatles’ endless creative curiosity and shared fascination with technology. It marks the completion of the last recording that John, Paul and George and Ringo will get to make together and celebrates the legacy of the foremost and most influential band in popular music history.

Pianist hört erstmalig Jay-Z and Alicia Key’s “Empire State of Mind” ohne das Piano und spielt dazu

Jordan Rudess ist Klaviervirtuose mit perfektem Gehör, spielt die Tasten bei Dream Theater und hat offenbar nicht viel Interesse an Popmusik. Auf jeden Fall gibt er für dieses Format hier an, vorher nie Jay-Z and Alicia Key’s “Empire State of Mind” gehört zu haben. Dieses wird ihm erst ohne die Piano-Line vorgespielt, während er am Piano steht und sich Gedanken darüber macht, was er damit dazu wohl machen könnte. Dann groovt er sich da irgendwie rein und spielt zum Original.

Mix: Isabeau Fort [Journey Series]

Wir haben die letzte Oktobernacht mit dem Bulli am Labussee verbracht, um dem jetzigen Ablauf der saisonalen Anmeldung einen würdigen Abschluss zu geben. Schön ist es dort. Sehr, sehr schön, auch wenn es soweit im Nichts liegt, dass am Ende mal wieder die Notfallfertignudelsoße regeln musste. Nun wird der feinste Bulli der Stadt für den Winterschlaf eingemottet. Ich habe die restliche Woche noch Urlaub und werde mit dem nicht viel anzufangen wissen. Ein Zimmer habe ich bisher gestrichen und am selben Abend die Küche so sehr mit Sekt geduscht, dass die jetzt auch noch unter frische Farbe muss. Aber dafür ist ja gerade die Zeit da. Jetzt koche ich hier für die Nicht-Veggies Entenkeulen mit Grünkohl und Klößen. Für die Veggies gibt es dazu Sellerieschnitzel. Ich dachte vorhin so, dass ich heute keinen richtigen Bock aufs Internet mehr hätte, dachte aber auch, dass ich für’s Kochen ja auch die passende Musik gebrauchen könnte und habe in meinen SC-Feed gelinst, wo dann toller Weise dieser Mix auftauchte, den Isabeau Fort aktuell für die Journey Series von Magician On Duty gemacht hat. Draußen zieht der Herbst in seinen vollen Möglichkeiten durch, ich mache dann jetzt hierzu mal den Backofen an, schnippel mein Zeug, genieße später den Duft von Orangen, Zimt und verkochendem Rotwein und höre dazu diesen Mix. Kann mir gerade wirklich nichts Passenderes vorstellen. Perfektes Match einfach.

Cellist spielt Bach an einem Bach

Bin jetzt nicht gerade der größte Fan von Bach, aber alleine für das Setting Bach an einem Bach zu spielen und das akustische Ambiente mit aufzuzeichnen, finde ich diese 15 Minuten hörenswert. Es spielt: Yo-Yo Ma.

Mir ist hier heute nach atmosphärischen Drum ’n‘ Bass, wie ich ihn nicht nur in den 1990ern geliebt habe. Der geht mir auch heute noch verdammt gut rein. Also Soundcloud geöffnet, „Atmospheric DnB“ gesucht und das hier gefunden. Damit geht es hier jetzt über den Tag. So.
