Mein einem Oculus Rift in der Achterbahn

Geile Idee. Das körperliche erlebte Gefühl einer Achterbahn mit einer völlig anderen Optik unter einem Oculus Rift zu kombinieren: VR Coaster. Guck mal, da fliegt ein Drachen!

In February 2014, I approached the german roller coaster manufacturer Mack Rides with the idea of extending a real roller coaster by wearing an Oculus Rift headset during the ride. I was wondering if it would be possible to replace the real environment by a synchronized virtual ride.

At Mack Rides, they also saw the potential and entered this ground-breaking cooperation project with me and my students, providing us two roller coasters for research and testing (I’m working as a professor at the University of Applied Sciences Kaiserslautern).

Ambivalente Kiste. Es ist schlicht nicht witzig, wenn sich Menschen wegen Ungereimtheiten im Straßenverkehr ins Kloppen bekommen, keine Frage. Dort verhalten sich eh immer fast alle viel zu aggressiv. Dennoch ist das hier Gezeigte so dermaßen neben der Spur, dass es fast schon nach einem Fake schnuppert. Kein Regisseur hätte das besser hinbekommen. Nur: die Kasperköppe hätten sich auch einmischen können, so sehr ihnen das Zwerchfell auch gejuckt haben mag. Wenn das allerdings kein Fake ist, hätte ein etwas entspannterer Umgang aller Beteiligten der Auflösung dieser Situation ganz sicher gut getan. Ohne die Vorgeschichte hierzu zu können.

Korken ziehen mit der Lötlampe

Gerade beim Camping ein gerne vergessenes Utensil: der Korkenzieher. Neben der alternativ sich anbietenden Weise, den Korken mit einem Schuh und ein paar Schlägen auf den Baum aus der Flasche zu holen, hier jetzt auch ein viel einfacherer Weg – mit einer Lötlampe. Darf man nur die nicht vergessen, was nur dann schlimm ist, wenn der Korkenzieher auch zu Hause blieb. Ansonsten die gute alte Schraubenziehervariante, die den Korken in die Flasche drückt. Yolo.
