Giulia tanzt auf ihrem Longboard durch Köln

Und es macht Freude, ihr dabei zuzusehen.

Talk about raw talent. Giulia started skating less than 2 years ago and has become one of the most elegant dancers on a longboard we’ve ever seen. So when we met her recently, we just had to capture it. Watch her dance through the streets of Cologne.

A day on the London Underground

A visualisation of 562,145 journeys on the London Underground network, from a 5% sample of Oyster-card journeys during a week in 2009.

The route that an individual took across the network was predicted by a custom written journey planner. Which correlated with TFLs recommendation.

The journey planner and route finder were both written in Python and the visualisation was created using C++ with openFrameworks and GLSL for the position computation.

Written and directed by award winning filmmaker Ben West, FUGU & TAKO is an amazing buddy film with stunning visual effects. The story follows two Japanese salary men’s lives that literally transform when one of them eats a live puffer fish in a sushi bar.

Many of you had asked for the moment he dived from the sky back to his handler. So…here it is! It’s thought the bird reached speeds of around 170 kph as he returned from his flight.

Most man-made objects have a static form, while everything natural in this world, including people, are subject to constant metamorphosis and adaptation to their surroundings. Shylight is the result of a question: how can an inanimate object mimic those changes that express character and emotions? After a research period of five years, Studio Drift found the final form to express their idea. It is a lamp that looks alive because of unpredictable, natural-looking movements: it descends to blossom in all its glorious beauty, to subsequently close and retreat upwards again. The Shylight is created out of many layers of silk, which cause it to move with the grace of a dancer. The movement of the lights can be controlled by an iPhone or iPad, opening up a range of possibilities such as a choreography to music. The fact that people react in a spontaneous and emotional way to these performative sculptures shows how the philosophy of Studio Drift functions exactly as it was meant.

The Shylights have a fall distance of 9 meters making it possible to create large compositions for high ceilinged spaces. A shylight installation can always be expended with additional Shylights.
