Staatliche Spielerlaubnis für Schallplattenunterhalter in der DDR

Das man diese staatliche Spielerlaubnis für Schallplattenunterhalter in der DDR haben musste, um offiziell als das, was man heute DJ nennt, auftreten zu können, ist nicht Neues, das hatte ich hier mal als Video. Wie genau das Dingen allerdings aussah, wusste ich bis eben nicht. Dann bin ich über die bescheidene Homepage (Ja, Homepage!) von Olaf Küther alias Mr.Kiz gestolpert. Neben kuhlen Bildern von dem, was man heute wohl Soundsystem nennen würde, und dieser staatlichen Spielerlaubnis für Schallplattenunterhalter erklärt der er auf durchaus interessante Weise, wie das damals so war in der DDR mit dem Musik auflegen und mit seiner seiner Disco Exellent.

Ich habe keine Ahnung, wie genau der Sound da reinkommt, aber darum soll es bei der Hacking Public Space Aktion auch nur bedingt gehen, wenn ich das richtig verstehe, viel wichtiger ist, was an Sound aus diesen Rohren raus kommt. Und das ist wirklich schwer beeindruckend.

In her work, Roberta Gigante (b. 1986, Arpino, Italy) explores relationships between public space, image and sound. More specifically, she examines the resonance frequencies of various objects and how sound behaves as an ‘image’. As part of Electrified02, Gigante will be going to the harbour in Ghent. It is not so much the setting that interests her as the site, where twelve gigantic metal pipes are being stored. The pipes lie next to one another, like separate organ pipes waiting to be brought together in one instrument. Each pipe – depending on its thickness, diameter and length – has its own resonance frequency, which is recorded and then used as a keynote in a site-specific sound installation. In OrganOOn the artist ‘hacks’ the port site in Ghent with a sound installation that appeals to the imagination and will be activated just once, namely on 9.5.2010.

Propellerheads stellt gerade Tag für Tag eine der Neuerungen für Reason 5 ins Netz. Heute den neuen Loop Player. Man darf gespannt sein, was da noch so kommen wird, bis das Dingen dann veröffentlicht wird.

Das Leben der Teebeutel

Auch so eine Frage um deren Antwort sich nie einer Gedanken macht: „Wie lebt es sich eigentlich so als Teebeutel?“ Bil Thompson hat sich eben genau diesem Thema mal angenommen und dieses fantastische Video dazu gemacht.

Juri Gagarins Reise ins All 1961, visualisiert 2010

Sehr schönes Video, was Paul Yeh and Oksana Badrak über den Kosmonauten Juri Gagarin und seine Reise ins All im Jahr 1961 gestaltet haben. Mit Mitteln, wie sie im Jahr 2010 schlicht gerne gesehen und gemocht werden.

1961 is an artistic interpretation of cosmonaut, Yuri Gagarin’s historic flight as the first man in space. With Yuri at the helm, we are taken on a voyage through a world of illustration and typography inspired by science fiction, Russian constructivism, information graphics, and 1980s arcade games.

Stethoskop Headphones

Skuril, diese Dinger, dessen Benutzung bisher eher Privileg der Mediziner war. Ab jetzt auch als In-Ear-Kopfhörer, weshalb sie für mich auch gleich schon mal gar nicht in Frage kommen – ich stecke mir äußerst ungern irgendwelche Sachen ins Ohr. Nur wer es mag. Kann man mit guter Musik im Ohr Onkel Doktor spielen, aber lassen wir das.
