The steps are so perfectly timed, and the motions so smooth and harmonious, that you might think the robots are actually listening and responding to the music. But they’re not; they’re listening to their synchronized inner clocks. For all their sophisticated sensors, the robots don’t even know that music is playing. And their ability to move through space without stepping on one another’s toes is the result of painstaking positioning and programming, rather than Spot’s obstacle avoidance feature.

Die Filmemacher Gilad Avnat und Stav Nahum haben New York City dabei begleitet, wie es nach dem Corona-Shutdown quasi wieder hochgefahren wurde und die vielen dabei entstandenen Sounds aufgenommen. Ganz schön laut, wenn da das Leben wieder durch die Straßen zieht – und ganz schön New York, wenn ich mich recht erinnere.

Schafherde von oben im Zeitraffer

Der Dronenfotograf Lior Patel hat ein paar Monate damit verbracht, eine große Schafherde mit der Drone zu begleiten. Ähnliches hatte ich hier schon mal und war davon schon beeindruckt. Patel aber hat die Aufnahmen dann noch gezeitraffert, was die sich bewegenden Schafe wie Flüssigkeiten wirken lässt.

For the past seven months I have been following a large herd of sheep, from winter pasture to the movement and arrival at the summer pasture. The size of the herd ranges from 1000-1700 sheep.

Heute lernte ich, dass die Menschen in Sri Lanka Geländerennen mit Tuk Tuks fahren und finde, das ist der einzig wahre Motorsport, den die Welt braucht einfach.

Ein Capybara, die Tiere mit denen einfach jeder Chillen will, und ein Tapir, eine wahrlich unterschätzte Tierart, beim gemeinsamen Abhängen. Tapir krault dem Capybara dabei mit der Nase den Bauch. Kumpels for real.

Long-form mix of all the main versions of the riddim that started in 1983 as Dub Syndicate’s „Ravi Shankar“, main theme to Steve Barker’s „On The Wire“; famously re-used as Lee ‚Scratch‘ Perry’s „Jungle“ for „Time Boom X De Devil Dead“ a few years later, through to mid-90s digidub/steppers remixes, and its frequent appearance in the 2000s on other Adrian Sherwood projects.
