Ein Jahr auf einem Biberdamm

Dieses Video zeigt schön anschaulich was da draußen so los ist und nichts mit Menschen zu tun hat. Ein Stelldichein der Tierwelt an einem Biberdamm im Voyageurs-Nationalpark in Minnesota.

This video is a compilation of the wildlife that crossed a beaver dam just south of Voyageurs National Park from March 2019-April 2020.

This video was literally a year in the making! Beaver dams can be wildlife highways in boreal environments like the Greater Voyageurs Ecosystem, allowing all sorts of wildlife to easily cross wetland habitats which might be otherwise difficult to get across.

While the wildlife is undoubtedly neat, we particularly enjoyed watching the changing of the seasons on this beaver dam! It summarizes life in the Northwoods: cold snowy winters and hot, humid summers with lots of vegetation!

Don’t fuck with the Roo!

It was a Christmas Day surprise no one expected; a wild kangaroo punching a father as he tried to shield his children from its rage in South West Rocks. More of the animals are trekking into the suburbs in search of food after the Black Summer fires destroyed their habitat.

Vor einem halben Jahr hat der Fotograf Tobias Baumgartner ein Foto zweier Feenpinguine gemacht und geteilt geteilt, die wohl beide ihre Gefährten verloren haben und sich seitdem regelmäßig in Melbourne treffen, um in die Lichter der Metropole zu sehen. Voll schön. Das Foto wurde mittlerweile und ganz zu recht mehrfach ausgezeichnet.

70 Zebrafinken spielen E-Gitarren

Im Montreal Museum of Fine Arts hat man im Jahr 2015 eine Gitarreninstallation aufgebaut, die 70 Zebrafinken dazu animieren wollte, auf E- und Bassgitarren Sound zu machen – und das hat geklappt. Ich mag diese Idee sehr.

A living musical exhibit at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts will set 70 zebra finches loose in an aviary, and the only perches are the strings of 14 electric guitars and bass guitars.

When the birds land, they create music that’s played through amplifiers stationed around the aviary.

French artist Céleste Boursier-Mougenot calls it living music, inspired by a memory from his childhood.

„Looking through the window, my feeling was that I want to make music from these birds on the wire, and 30 years later I did this,“ he said.
