Brent Artman ist ein in Colorado lebender Künstler, der für sich Kupfer im Zusammenhang mit Flammen entdeckt hat und aus dieser Kombination heraus bunte Wanduhren herstellt. Nice.
Brent Artman is an artist in Colorado. He takes a large piece of copper and cleans it until it’s shiny. He uses reduction flame to remove oxidation from the piece and create line work on the copper. Once he has his pattern mapped out, he can start to change the color of the design with the fire. Once the piece is complete, he seals it with a clear coat so the colors don’t continue to oxidize.

Burke McCabe hat eine Uhr erfunden, die zu Boden fällt, wenn man auf sie schaut, um eben die Uhrzeit herauszufinden. Warum er das Ding gebaut hat, weiß ich nicht – er auch nicht, aber es funktioniert. Und irgendwie kann man so seine „zeitlosen Momente“ selber steuern. Ich glaube, das ist das, was ich daran mag.

Fancy-Idee für eine Uhr, die aus Paillettenstoff besteht und sich kontinuierlich selber neu schreibt. Der Architekt Ekaggrat Singh Kalsi hat diese entwickelt und sie „Sequino“ genannt. Geschrieben in Magneto. Würde ich mir so auch hinstellen.

Schönes Mini-Zen-Dinges aus dem Londoner Studio Ayaskan: Ripple of Time, eine liegende Sanduhr. Leider bisher nur als Konzept, aber die kann ich mir gerne in einem großen Wohnzimmer vorstellen, das ich nicht habe.
Within a spacetime continuum, time is perceived as the fourth dimension. The past the present and the future is a whole. Ripples of Time, allow natural materials to be shaped by time, reminding us of its presence.The installation consists of two complimentary clocks; Sand and Water. Sand, inspired by Zen Gardens, is the gradual formation and flattening of a ripple pattern over a period of twelve hour cycles. Water, on the other hand, tells the ephemeral time through concentric circles in the form of endless waves that ripple by the second.It is the landscapes and the cycles found in nature, that both the projects represents.

Bezahlt hat der damals in Zweibrücken stationierte GI $120,00. 20 Dollar mehr als sein monatlicher Sold. Ordentlich wie er offenbar ist, hat er sowohl die Quittung als auch die Box und die Papiere der Uhr bis zum letzten Jahr aufgehoben. Das zahlt sich aus – alles zusammen hat heute einen Wert von 65.000 bis 75.000 Dollar. Da guckt der Herr nicht schlecht.

Die Künstlerin und Designerin Bina Baitel arbeitet gerne mit ungewöhnlichen Materialien. So kam es, dass sie eine Wanduhr entwickelte, die die Zeit mit Haaren darstellt, die Lash Clock.

Vor Jahren schrieb ich hier mal über eine Digital-Uhr von Humans since 1982, die aus mehreren alten Analog-Uhren zusammengesetzt wurde und als dann neu vereintes Ensemble die Uhrzeit richtig wiedergeben konnte. Dazu gab es damals nur ein Foto. Mittlerweile gibt es auch ein Video. Und man kann das Teil im MoMA-Store kaufen. Für „schlappe“ $5K.
