3 KommentareBerlin native Kolja Kugler learned his craft in the early 1990s, when he worked alongside the Mutoid Waste Company, an “anarcho-punk” performance art group that transformed scrap metal into creative sculptures. His current pet project is the One Love Machine Band, a pneumatically controlled robot band that plays real instruments, which means he used old car parts and junk metal to construct a set of moving, wind-powered humanoid sculptures that make music on the bass guitar and drums.
Eine recht simple, gar nicht so spektakuläre und dennoch irgendwie voll schöne Idee von Greg Murphy und seinem Bruder Ken, die über einen Stream die Radiosender spielen, die in den Gebieten senden, die von der ISS momentan überflogen werden. Ich höre hier gerade Riyadh aus Saudi Arabien und hatte davor Radio Xoriyo aus Äthiopien sowie einen Sender aus dem Tschad laufen. Auf diese Idee wäre ich ohne diesen Stream wohl niemals gekommen. Mittlerweile bin ich musikalisch in Russland.

RadioISS tracks the position of the ISS, and plays the „nearest“ audio stream at that moment from a database of audio streams originating from around the world.

Die Produzenten-Legende Rick Rubin gründete vor 30 Jahren gemeinsam mit Russell Simmons das Label Def Jam, das nicht nur Rappern wie LL Cool J oder den Beasties zu Weltruhm verhalf, sondern auch Bands wie Slayer oder Danzig unter Vertrag hatte.
Rubin ist heute Co-Chef des zu Sony/BMG gehörenden Labels Columbia Records und produziert immer noch überaus erfolgreich Musik. Seine Diskografie ließt sich wie das „Who is who“ der letzten 30 Jahre Musikgeschichte. Das Rolling Stones hat ihn nun am Ort seiner Gründerjahre besucht und mit ihm über diese Zeit gesprochen.

Ein nicht wirklich nützliche und dennoch sehenswerte Infografik, die zeigt, wie welche Band der letzten Jahrzehnte namentlich so auf der Bühne stand. Sehenswert alleine der Idee schon wegen. Finde ich.

On the whole, if there were different line-ups of bands, the classic line-up of a band is shown. Nachdem das mit Coolio schon recht gut funktioniert hat, will Pornhub, die vielleicht täglich am meisten Internet-Traffic verursachende Seite überhaupt, jetzt auch mehr mit Musik machen. Die neuen Vertriebswege sind offenbar unergründlich und erschließen sich mir letztendlich nicht wirklich. Aber was weiß ich schon. Einige der jungen Musikanten wird es womöglich freuen, auch wenn $5000.00 noch weniger sind, als man bei im Falle eines „Gewinns“ bei heutigen hiesigen Casting-Formaten mitnehmen kann.
Bei FACT nennen sie diese Idee süffisant „Record Label“, worauf sie am Ende sicher nicht hinauslaufen wird.
Einen Kommentar hinterlassenPornhub’s head of PR Matt Blake told Billboard that he felt that the company had “always seen a strong music presence from the beginning,” saying that artists had been uploading their own R-rated versions of songs, for example. Certainly Falty DL used the site to premiere his ‘Some Jazz Shit’ video from earlier this year, but bizarrely it didn’t feature anything untoward, apart from the groaner of a title.
Vice President Cory Price explained that while Coolio had achieved a large amount of interest in his masturbation anthem ‘Take it to the Hub’, the label were actually “looking for acts that aren’t necessarily porn-focused.” Not the word “necessarily” there, we’d guess that it would certainly be a help if they’re looking for pageviews. We can’t really see people visiting Pornhub to watch an experimental video of some CG shapes moving through space at high speed. Price does at least seem to understand this, admitting ”we’re an ad-based network looking for content that appeals to our demographic. Mature lyrics for an adult audience; no boy bands or teen-pop, for instance.”

Ähnliches gab es über die letzten Jahre immer wieder mal. Meistens allerdings mit Fokus auf ein Genre und die damit verbundenen Subgenres. Glenn McDonald hat jetzt auf Every Noise at Once aber 1245 verschiedene Genres gelistet und diese mit den jeweiligen Vertretern und Hörbeispielen verlinkt. Am Ende landet man immer auf Spotify, aber irgendwo muss diese Arbeitsleitung schließlich auch ein Ende haben. Und so erschließen sich mir Musikrichtungen, von denen ich bisher noch die gehört hatte.

Die Idee ist nicht ganz neu, aber ich mag sie immer noch sehr. Brennidepill ist durch Reykjavik gelaufen und hat die Leute gefragt, was sie unter ihren Kopfhörern in der besten Filterbubble der Welt gerade hören.
