Unser aller Lieblingsklavierspieler Nils Frahm veröffentlicht am 03.12.2020 sein neues Album „Tripping with Nils Frahm“ nebst eines dafür produzierten Konzertfilms. Beides wurde im Jahr 2018 im Funkhaus Berlin während seiner „All Melody“ Tour aufgenommen. „Fundamental Values“ kommt dazu als Vorläufer.

Das Album erscheint bei Erased Tapes, der Film wird über die Streaming-Plattform MUBI Premiere feiern.

When Nils Frahm kicked off his world tour at Funkhaus Berlin in January 2018 to bring his highly acclaimed album ‘All Melody’ to the stage, an ambitious journey was just to begin: Over the next two years, Frahm played more than 180 sold-out performances, including the Sydney Opera House, LA’s Disney Hall, the Barbican in London, Hamburg’s Elbphilharmonie, and several big festival stages around the globe. Yet the stunning setting of Funkhaus Berlin, renowned for its vintage grandeur and outstanding acoustics, and also home to Frahm’s studio where ‘All Melody’ was recorded, had occupied a unique place in the artist’s heart.

Nils Frahm wird im Januar 2018 sein nun schon siebentes Studio Album auf Erased Tapes veröffentlichen. „All Melody“ wird es heißen und mit 12 Kompositionen kommen. Aufgenommen wurde es im Saal 3 der Funkhaus Studios Berlin, welchen Frahm dafür gänzlich für seine Zwecke anpassen konnte.

“In the process of completion, any album not only reveals what it has become but, maybe more importantly, what it hasn’t become. All Melody was imagined to be so many things over time and it has been a whole lot, but never exactly what I planned it to be. I wanted to hear beautiful drums, drums I’ve never seen or heard before, accompanied by human voices, girls, and boys. They would sing a song from this very world and it would sound like it was from a different space. I heard a synthesiser which sounds like a harmonium playing the All Melody, melting together with a line of a harmonium sounding like a synthesiser. My pipe organ would turn into a drum machine, while my drum machine would sound like an orchestra of breathy flutes. I would turn my piano into my very voice, and any voice into a ringing string. The music I hear inside me will never end up on a record, as it seems I can only play it for myself. This record includes what I think sticks out and describes my recent musical discoveries in the best possible way I could imagine.”
