Vor ein paar Tagen hat der uns allen liebste Klavierspieler Nils Frahm den 29.03. zum Piano Day erklärt. Dieser ist heute und heute gibt es ein neues Album von Nils Frahm. so/o heißt es und kann hier sowohl als Mp3 als auch als Wave for free geladen werden. Zusätzlich kann man sich auch die CD oder das Vinyl bestellen. Besser kann ein Sonntag nicht klingen.

Das aber ist nicht alles, was diesen Sonntag zum Piano Day macht. Es geht auch darum Geld für den Bau eines Instrumentes zu sammeln: das Klavins M450. Dafür werden 120.000 Euro benötigt, weshalb ich das Album gleich noch mal auf iTunes kaufen werde. Gespendet darf auch werden.

Our friend David Klavins isn’t out for profit on this one. As he is only driven by hearing his invention himself, he simply wants materials and labor to be covered. I will donate all income generated with –solo– until the financial means are achieved. Building the Klavins M450 will take about two years and we are confident that we will organise a festival around this incredible invention on Piano Day 2017 here in Berlin.
My new record – solo – was recorded on the prototype of the instrument under discussion. Although being a slightly smaller version with 3.7 meters in height, the Klavins M370 is already tremendous and gigantic sounding. But listen for yourself and see if the sound is worth the effort. 3 Kommentare Mirsch, der einst für das tolle Netlabel One Bit Wonder mitverantwortlich war und sein Projekt Latex Distortion wiederbelebt hat, schreibt mir:
Seit one bit wonder hat sich viel verändert – man wird eben älter. Aber die Katze lässt ja bekanntlich das Mausen nicht und das ist auch der Grund für die Kontaktaufnahme, mit der ich zunächst doch etwas gehadert habe (Ich bin kein Freund der „Kaltakquise“).
Nach dem Ende von one bit wonder hatte ich auch mein Musikprojekt „Latex Distortion“ an den Nagel gehängt. Lag auch daran, dass mein Kompagnon nach München gezogen und das ganze ziemlich schnell eingeschlafen ist. Nachdem ich ein paar Jahre experimentiert habe, habe ich Latex Distortion nun wiederbelebt (eigentlich so wie sich Funkstörung auch (yay!)). Damit bin ich nicht sonderlich aktiv, aber mache hin und wieder ein paar Tracks und Mixes. Wohin die Reise mit Latex Distortion geht, weiß ich auch nicht so genau, aber der Weg ist ja das Ziel.
Sein Mix läuft hier seit zwei Tagen und nichts könnte besser in eine sonntägliche Nacht passen, als eben dieser. Die Tracklist könnte genau so auch von mir sein.
Ein KommentarCyril Chapellier und Eric Redon haben zwei Klaviere zu Playstation-Controllern umgebaut und spielen damit Street Fighter. Und das klingt sogar recht ordentlich.
TL,DR; We seamlessly transformed two classical upright pianos into Playstation 2 controllers using custom analog piezo triggers, Raspberry Pi B+ and Arduino Unos and created a specific Python3 firmware to map a classical playing style onto the Street Fighter Alpha 3 Gameplay including combos and the like.

Patterns of Harmony is a mirrored projection mapping installation inspired by quantum physics and a research to find the origin of geometry. It focuses on all of nature’s weird beauty, takes concepts from far beyond the perceptivity of the human mind and attempts to translate them into a unified, spatial form.
The physical object is a fractal of cubes, though it does not contain any physical cubes, only reflections and projections of it. It is built by applying a combination of rear-projection and two-way mirror foils on acrylic glass, and the final effect is achieved by mapping and projecting animated graphics on the back of the installation. Thereby the light gets “trapped inside” the object, breaks on it’s physical structure and create the illusion of other shapes, eventually letting our minds take care of the construction of the visible geometry.

Martin von youANDme ist Label Head von Rotary Cocktail. Irgendwie kamen wir mal über Marko zusammen und seitdem pflegen wir das, was sich wohl „Internetbekannschaft mit musikalischem Hintergrund“ nennt. Hin und wieder schreiben wir, er schickt Links zu neuen VÖs, ich höre mir die an.
Ein Label wie dieses zu machen ist an sich schon Statement. Eines das sagt, dass die Deepness dort die Krone aufbekommt. Die Krone, die mit Dubchords durch die Luft getragen wird.
Er schafft mit seinem Mix hier fast das Kunststück, die Quintessenz des diesjährigen Kalenders in 1:44 zusammenzufassen. Dub ist dabei, Techno, Piano und noch viel mehr. Als ich die Tracklist sah, dachte ich so, „Heilige Scheiße! Wie geil ist das denn!“ Weil sie eben von all dem etwas hat, was mich stilistisch so über das Jahr begleitet hat. Das alles so zusammenzubinden ist nicht die kleinste Aufgabe im musikalischen Universum, aber er meistert sie, als hätte er nie etwas anderes getan. Nach dem Hören, glaube ich fast, das dem wirklich so ist, und er tatsächlich nie wirklich irgendwas anderes gemacht hat. Ganz großes Tennis, das er hier auf einem übergroßen Platz der Stile spielt. Sehr gemächlich tut er das, aber warum auch nicht? Es ist Montag, kein Grund für Stress. So gar nicht.
Zum Ende hat man bei jedem Track die Hoffnung im Kopf, dass das bitte noch nicht der letzte sein würde, und es eigentlich doch für immer so weiter gehen könnte. Noch einer dieser ganz besonderen Mixe.
