Auch so eine Sache, über die man ohne derartige Dokumentationen wohl kaum nachdenken würde.

In summer of 2006, in the middle of the insurgency, filmmakers Eddy Moretti and Suroosh Alvi traveled to Baghdad to meet and interview the only heavy metal band in Iraq, Acrassicauda. „Heavy Metal in Baghdad“ is the story of the band and its members, young Iraqis whose lives have been distorted and displaced by years of continual warfare in their homeland. The filmmakers have collected glimpses into the struggles of Acrassicauda as they try to stay together and stay alive. Their struggle is the untold story of the hopes and dreams of an entire generation of young Iraqis.

Und weil bei Wikio letztens stand, ich würde hier das Thema „Rock“ machen, gleich diese Doku noch hinterher. Man hat ja auch einen Ruf, den es zu verlieren gilt. Außerdem ist kurz vor Wochenende, da habt Ihr eh alle nichts weiter zu tun, als Dokus zu gucken.

Ich hatte die zwar hier schon als youtube-Playlist, aber außer mir sieht die sich wahrscheinlich eh keiner an. Deshalb nun noch mal als komplette Fassung. Und wie ich BBC kenne, bleibt die da eh nicht lange, die großartige Krautrock-Doku hat nämlich auch nicht lange auf Löschung warten müssen.

Die ultimative Doku über Synthis auf der Insel. Lief vor kurzem auf BBC und ist wirklich sehr gut und aussagekräftig. Jeder der irgendwie was Elementares im Kontext zu Synths zu sagen hat kommt hier zu Wort. Leider fehlt Part 8, aber auch ohne den gibt es hier genug zu sehen und zu hören.

Ich hatte hier vor einiger Zeit schon mal eine Kurz-Doku, die ganz ähnlich hieß, allerdings noch kürzer war. Allerdings ging es in dieser anderen nur um einen Deejay, hier kommen mehrere zu Wort. Der Inhalt überschneidet sich dennoch geringfügig. Da die andere Doku aber ohnehin nicht mehr online ist, ist das auch egal.

In der DDR jedenfalls konnte nicht jeder Nappel Deejay werden, das bedurfte einer Prüfung: der zum staatlich geprüften Schallplattenunterhalter nämlich. Da hat die Jugend aber gesteppt, die freie deutsche.

In „Nachts im Osten“, entstanden als Diplomarbeit an der Kunsthochschule Maastricht, besucht Ive Müller die Stätten in Leipzig, an denen er selbst als Schallplattenunterhalter aktiv war. Unter anderem zu sehen: die Moritzbastei, der Jugendclub Rabet und Tanzszenen aus der Diskothek im ehemaligen Palast der Republik.

Die volle Ladung Krautrock beleuchtet in knapp 60 Minuten. Besonders interessant finde ich ja immer, wie die Welt da draußen diese Art von Musik wahrgenommen hat. Diese Doku ist super sehenswert!

Between 1968 and 1977 bands like Neu!, Can, Faust and Kraftwerk would look beyond western rock and roll to create some of the most original and uncompromising music ever heard. They shared one common goal – a forward-looking desire to transcend Germany’s gruesome past – but that didn’t stop the music press in war-obsessed Britain from calling them Krautrock.
