Deutsche Dokumentation von 1979 über die Punkbewegung Ende der Siebziger in London. In englisch mit japanischen(?) Untertiteln, imho viel zu viel Musik und irgendwie ziemlich schräg. Nun ja.

Extrem lahme Verbindung nach Japan, aber ich habe schon länger gewartet um eine Doku zu sehen. Amazon Kundin Susann Martin meint zu dem Film:
Einen Kommentar hinterlassenDiese experimentelle Dokumentation basiert auf hunderten Stunden Tonmaterials, das Michael Azzerad innerhalb eines Jahres (92 bis 93) durch Gespräche mit Cobain zusammengetragen hat, woraus dann die Biografie „Come As You Are“ entstand. AJ Shack verwendet dieses bisher unveröffentlichte Material nun dazu, Kurt Cobains Leben in dessen eigenen Worten nachzuvollziehen. Während wir Kurts Anekdoten lauschen, zeichnet Shack dessen Leben mit Hilfe von zeitgenössischen Bildern der Städte Aberdeen und Seattle nach. Wir sehen Portraits der Einwohner, Straßenzüge, künstlerische Animationen. Untermalt von Musik, die Kurts Leben begleitet hat, entsteht das Portrait eines jungen Mannes, dessen größter Wunsch der einer intakten Familie, von Ruhe und Frieden ist und der schließlich doch an seinen Dämonen scheitert.
Shack gelingt eine extrem sensible Dokumentation, die zeigt, dass das Schiksal Kurt Cobains letztlich, in dessen eigenen Worten, ein unspektakuläres ist – „Im just a product of a spoiled America“.
Eine der wenigen wirklich guten Dokus, die sich mit dem Zufluchtsort von Hippies aus der ganzen Welt auseinandersetzt. Und eben auch mit dem Soundtrack dazu.

Many returned, a few stayed. Goa, the hippie paradise of the 60’s is our point where we start to search for “the last hippies”. This former Portuguese colony in the south of India was for many the final destination after adventurous travels through Greece, Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan. Dreamlike untouched beaches promised to be a new holy land, which was also the spritual basis for Alex Garland’s novel “The Beach”. After viewing historical Super8 material we started searching for the famous beaches and found a new youth culture which seemed to be similar to the old hippie culture. Raver, Part-Time-Hippies, Backpacker und “normal” people enjoyed the beaches. We met people from Japan, Israel, Australia and the UK. Anjuna Beach is the center of the infamous Goa parties. Here, the millenium celebrations promised the best… “
