Documentary about the the people of EMS (Electronic Music Studios) a radical group of avant-garde electronic musicians who utilized technology and experimentation to compose a futuristic electronic sound-scape for the New Britain.

Comprising of pioneering electronic musicians Peter Zinovieff and Tristram Cary (famed for his work on the Dr Who series) and genius engineer David Cockerell, EMSs studio was one of the most advanced computer-music facilities in the world. EMSs great legacy is the VCS3, Britains first synthesizer and rival of the American Moog. The VCS3 changed the sounds of some of the most popular artists of this period including Brian Eno, Hawkwind and Pink Floyd.

Ziemlich abgefahrene Installation von Joe Winter, von der ich jetzt noch nicht genau weiß, wo ich die hin stecken soll, aber es macht Spass ihr bei dem, was sie da tut, zuzusehen.

„Five modified toy pianos circulate the gallery on five elevated wooden tracks. Each piano is equipped with small speakers to play amplified sounds picked up from conductive tape on the tracks. Each piano also contains small motors which intermittently spin to strike the toy pianos’ tone bars, adding acoustic elements to the overall soundtrack of the work.“

So. Ich geh‘ dann mal in’s Kinderzimmer. Alte Murmelbahnen stehen da noch zur Genüge – kann ja nicht so schwer sein. Wenn denha das hinbekommt, sollte das bei mir auch klappen. Obwohl, der hat bestimmt einige Vorkenntnisse in Physik. Egal, selbst wenn nicht, werden zumindest die Kinder ihren Spass haben.

Mir wird gerade etwas wehmütig um’s Herz. Wir hatten diese Kiste ewig lange im noch damaligem Studio und wir haben sie so oft programmiert, bis sie dann irgendwann dann erste Aussetzer hatte. Mit Inge zog sie aus. Alles was bleibt sind die fast unzähligen Samples die ich seit Jahren von HD zu HD schleife.
