Nach einer riesigen Vorfreude darauf, folgte mit dem Hören von Shlohmos aktuellem Album „Dark Red“ leider ein wenig Ernüchterung. So richtig gab es mir beim ersten Durchlauf nicht viel, zu einem weiteren bin ich bisher nicht gekommen, auch wenn ich das auf der ganz persönlichen Agenda habe. „Buried“ allerdings ist eine Nummer, die zu überzeugen weiß. Hier im ziemlich krassen Director’s Cut von Lance Drake.

Ein KommentarWe started from Ushuaia in Argentina and went to Port Williams in Chile, rounded Cape Horn and crossed the Drake Passage towards the Melchior Islands in Antarctica. We spent 16 days in the Antarctic and got to experience the most amazing scenery and wildlife before we returned back to Ushuaia.

Oscar Lhermitte hat eine Kamera mit rotierender Linse entwickelt. Die dreht sich mit 1800 Umdrehungen pro Minute und zeichnet dabei natürlich Kreise und Muster auf, was gleich mal zur Erstellung dieses Musikvideos zum Einsatz kam. Wie betrunken in Höchstgeschwindigkeit. Nur hübscher. Oder so.
The revolvograph consists of the combination of a high speed rotating motor with a digital camera connected to it. The motor is spinning at 30 rotations per second (1800 rpm) while at the same time the camera is recording 30 frames per second. In other words, for every frame of the video being captured, the camera is doing a full revolution. The effects created are abstract moving patterns of colours in concentric circles.
The lens can be mounted at the center of the shaft to create concentric circles, or perpendicular to it to create horizontal patterns.
