Obst- und Gemüseschnitt in Stop Motion: The Cut

„Food Porn“ mal ganz vegetarisch. Der britische Fotograf Carl Pendle hat Obst und Gemüse in Scheiben geschnitten und draus dieses kurze Stop Motion-Video gemacht.

Before I explain what is going on here when you watch it – TURN UP THE VOLUME!

Decided to do something a bit different. I liked the idea of slicing up fruit and vegetables to create a stop motion animation of them changing shape with each cut. The idea came when I saw the cross section of a tree with the circles and decided to apply it to food. Being a food photographer and filmmaker it fitted well with what I do and I knew some of my clients would like the idea.

But it took a long time to execute. Finely slicing loads of fruit and vegetables took over 3 days and with about a 1,000 shots to create what you see here.

Joshua Morin war ein bisschen in Kuba unterwegs und hat seine Impressionen in diesen kurzen Clip geschnitten. Da fällt mir wieder ein, dass ich da auch immer mal noch hin wollte.

Sebastian Linda erklärt Sachsen mit diesem kurzen Film hier seine Liebe. Ich war als Kind sehr oft in Sachsen, habe wahrscheinlich jede Burg dort besucht und war häufig klettern. Seit meiner Jugend zieht mich dort nichts wirklich mehr hin. Vielleicht sollte ich mal wieder nach Sachsen fahren. Vielleicht aber sollte ich auch einfach wieder mehr in Brandenburg unterwegs sein, weil Travel where you Live.

This colony of Convergent Ladybugs is native to California and has been living in the same spot here in Cascade Canyon for decades (centuries?). They always have 13 or fewer spots (and there’s no special significance to the number of spots, with some having no spots at all). Every winter they huddle up for warmth and come spring they begin their half-year aphid feast.

Es dürfte so einige geben, die sich hierin wieder erkennen. Ich schließe mich da selbstverständlich gänzlich aus. Würde ich nie machen!!11!!

Something we have all no doubt noticed is the increasing fixation with what is going on our smartphones – if it’s not ourselves, then we regularly see other people walking down the street pre-occupied with their phones, we see buses and trains full of commuters fixated on their little screens desperate for some information fix and it’s not uncommon to see friends in restaurants interacting with their phones rather than each other – all missing what is going on around them and reducing their quality of life as a result.
