Diese Installation von Martin Backes wirkt ein wenig so als würde ein Computer Karaoke singen. Und wenn man es nicht ganz so genau nimmt, klingt das auch so. Aber diese Balladen der 90er sind allesamt ohnehin keine akustischen Schönheiten.
„What do machines sing of?“ is a fully automated machine, which endlessly sings number-one ballads from the 1990s. As the computer program performs these emotionally loaded songs, it attempts to apply the appropriate human sentiments. This behavior of the device seems to reflect a desire, on the part of the machine, to become sophisticated enough to have its very own personality.

Elliot Schultz bestickt für seine sich im liegen drehenden Zoetrope im 10″ Format, die ihre Schönheit dann auf einem sich drehenden Plattenspieler entfalten. Ich war in der Schule im Fach „Handarbeit fakultativ“ gar nicht mal so schlecht und mochte das Sticken sehr. Vielleicht wäre das ja im Alter ja noch mal was für mich.

„Inspired by the work of Alexandre Alexeieff and Claire Parker, I aimed to guide my production process indirectly through the limitations afforded by alternative media. Their invention, the pin screen, was used as the sole medium in the production of six short films, and shaped the outcome of their work. In response, I have designed and embroidered animated sequences onto discs, similar to the Phenakistokope, Zoopraxiscope and Stamfer Disc layouts. This repurposing of media introduced strict parameters, namely spatial, tonal and temporal, and has greatly informed all stages of my process.“

Hübsches Design-Experiment vom Copenhagen Institute of Interaction Design für das leitfähige Farbe auf Papier gemalt wird, wodurch sich Sound-Loops spielen lassen.
Conductive paint and resistive graphite were used to draw functioning circuits on paper discs. When the synthesizer completes the circuit its pitch is changed by the varying resistance of the graphite strips.

The mural is placed on the side wall of an old furniture factory
in Mechelen, Belgium. It’s made by piecing together discarded
wooden planks, doors and furniture.
Interessantes Video-Projekt der britischen Künstlerin Lenka Clayton, die Clips davon macht, wie ihr Junge sich auf den noch kurzen Weg macht, die Welt für sich selber zu entdecken – und wie lange sie selber das auszuhalten vermag. Man könnte meinen, dass diese Wege beim Altern des Jungen immer längere werden.
Ich kann mich an ein Fest erinnern, dass wir einst mit unser Kleinen besuchten. Auf diesem lief sie einfach los. Ganz frei von Angst oder Zurückhaltung. Sie lief und lief und lief. Ohne sich nur einmal umzudrehen. Wir liefen mit etwas Abstand unauffällig hinter ihr her, um zu wissen, wann sie sich mal umdrehen würde. Es dauerte gut 20 Minuten. Ein weiter Weg, den ein 3-jähriges Kind ganz alleine hinter sich bringt.

7 KommentareLaura Jenkinson malt sich mit Theaterschminke mehr oder weniger bekannte Cartoon-Charaktere auf die Lippen und zeigt sie dann auf Instagram. Und das ist ziemlich großartig, wie ich finde.
„I’d seen loads of other fantastic make-up artists on Instagram and I wanted to do something similar and on a bigger scale so I started doing about one a week,” Jenkinson told one online publication. “I find a picture and then just hold it up to the mirror as a guide and draw straight onto my face – it’s easier than you think“

Joe Mangrum macht Bilder aus buntem Sand und das sieht ziemlich geil aus. Jetzt war er in Zuidlaren in den Niederlanden und hat dort 8 seiner temporären Kunstwerke „gemalt“.
All of Mangrum’s paintings are spontaneous and evolve as he works, a grueling physical process that involves dozens of revolutions around the artwork as he adds new details and flourishes by pouring brightly colored sand. All eight artworks were photographed as he worked and turned into time-lapse videos, three of which are included here. The sand paintings will remain on view through October 30, 2015.
