Weil nicht genug Käse auf der bestellten Pizza war: Notruf gewählt

In Neufundland, Kanada, hat sich eine Frau eine Pizza bestellt, die nach Lieferung ihres Erachtens nach zu wenig Käse auf dem schmackhaften Fladenbrot hatte. Daraufhin hat sie sich beim Pizzabäcker beschwert, der aber für sie wohl nicht sonderlich zufriedenstellend antwortete. Dann hat sie kurzerhand die kanadische Notruf-Nummer gewählt. In mir kommt gerade ein klitzekleines Bisschen Verständnis dafür hoch. So ein ganz ganz kleines. So was macht man aber nicht!

„The individual had an issue with the company she bought the pizza from, and there wasn’t enough cheese, and had approached the company and didn’t like whatever response they had given,“ Higdon said Monday.

„I’m not sure if by calling us they assumed there was some sort of action we could take, or what the situation was, but of course we advised the individual they just needed to speak with the manager of the company and not the police.“

Kanada legalisiert Cannabis

In Teilen der USA wurde das in den letzten Jahren schon so gehandhabt, jetzt zieht Kanada als gesamter Staat nach und legalisiert Cannabis. Vielleicht erlebe ich es ja noch, dass das irgendwann auch in Deutschland passiert.

„Als erstes Land aus der Gruppe der sieben führenden Industriestaaten (G7) wird Kanada den Konsum von Marihuana legalisieren. Das kündigte der neue Premierminister des Landes, Justin Trudeau, in Ottawa an. Der im Oktober zum Regierungschef gewählte Liberale bestätigte damit in einer Rede zu seiner Regierungspolitik für 2016 ein Versprechen aus seinem Wahlkampf: Er hatte angekündigt, den Konsum von Cannabis direkt nach seiner Wahl straffrei zu stellen. Im Laufe des kommenden Jahres sollen dazu die entsprechenden Gesetze beschlossen werden.“

Die Kanadier malen Mister Spock auf ihre 5-Dollar-Noten

Seitdem Tod von Leonard „Mister Spock“ Nimoy malen einige Kanadier sein Antlitz auf die 5-Dollar-Note der kanadischen Landesbank. Die eigentliche Note zeigt ein Bild vom siebten kanadischen Premierminister, Sir Wilfrid Laurier, der Spock aufgrund seiner Ohren jetzt nicht ganz unähnlich sah. Die Bank of Canada findet das jetzt nicht ganz so pralle, kann aber auch nicht mehr machen als zu mahnen, das doch bitte zu unterlassen, denn illegal ist das Bemalen von Banknoten nicht.

“…However, there are important reasons why it should not be done. Writing on a bank note may interfere with the security features and reduces its lifespan. Markings on a note may also prevent it from being accepted in a transaction. Furthermore, the Bank of Canada feels that writing and markings on bank notes are inappropriate as they are a symbol of our country and a source of national pride.”

Iglu-Bau im kanadischen Eis, 1949

Diese Iglu-Bau-Videos tauchen jedes Jahr aufs Neue auf, dieses hier allerdings ist mittlerweile 65 Jahre alt und zeigt zwei Inuit, die im kanadischen Norden ein Iglu aus dem Schnee scheiden und aufbauen. An der Technik dürfte sich im Gegensatz zum herkömmmlichen Hausbau bis heute nicht sonderlich viel geändert haben.

This classic short film shows how to make an igloo using only snow and a knife. Two Inuit men in Canada’s Far North choose the site, cut and place snow blocks and create an entrance–a shelter completed in one-and-a-half hours. The commentary explains that the interior warmth and the wind outside cement the snow blocks firmly together. As the short winter day darkens, the two builders move their caribou sleeping robes and extra skins indoors, confident of spending a snug night in the midst of the Arctic cold!

Skaten in einem verlassenen Hotel

Ein Brausehersteller hat ein paar Jungs mit ihren Decks in ein verlassenes Hotel nach Neuschottland nähe Halifax in Canada geführt und sie dort skaten lassen. Wofür so alte verlassene Hotels noch gut sein können.

Aspotogan was designed to be one of the finest seaside resorts in Eastern Canada. This 175,500 square foot retreat on the coast of Nova Scotia began construction in 1993 and for unknown reasons never saw completion. The hotel was left abandoned, forgotten, and frozen in time. Until now… A combination of builders and riders set out to the coast of Halifax to turn a 20 year abandoned hotel into a legendary multi-level concrete skate park. The crew brings new life into the abandoned space by transforming it into an ultimate 5-star skate retreat with custom transitions, rails and boxes built into the existing structure. Camping out for a week at Aspotogan, it’s their last resort to shred the spot before it is demolished forever.

Dope- und Bierbong in einem: The Knockout

In Kanada scheint man ziemlich innovativ, was die Beschaffung und den Konsum von Marihuana betrifft. So haben die mittlerweile nicht nur einen Marihuana-Automaten, sondern auch eine Bong, die es so, glaube ich, bisher nicht gegeben hat. Mit The Knockout nämlich lässt sich nicht nur ein Köpfchen rauchen, sondern auch eine Portion Bier aufs Schnellste hinterkippen. Wer mag kann das auch verbinden.

Während wir uns hier immer noch gerne über altersidentifizierende Chipkarten am Kippen-Automaten ärgern, haben sie in Vancouver den ersten Gras-Automaten eingeweiht: Canada’s first pot vending machine. Und der hat sogar Dope, wenn ich das richtig sehe.

The first cannabis-dispensing machine in Canada has begun operating in Vancouver, following on from the first machine installed recently in the US state of Colorado. The difference? The Canadian machine doesn’t ID you.

Ziemlich kuhler Mix aus der kanadischen Kühle vom Label Silent Season. Downbeats, Dubs, Dubtechno, Dubtechno, Dubtechno und viel Atmosphäre. Genau das halt, was eins heute am Lagerfeuer so hören mag. An den Feuern zumindest, an denen ich gerne sitzen mag. Das Teil hier hat 2 Stunden 45. Genug Zeit also, noch mal Holz nachzulegen. Kann mal wer Holz nachlegen? Bitte, danke.
