Funky Jeff hat sich dem Schaffen der Schweden von Carbon Based Lifeforms angenommen und einen wunderbaren Ambient-Mix daraus gewebt. Ich koch dazu hier jetzt mal eben Hühnerfrikassee nach Omas Rezept. Kochen und Musik ist in etwas so etwas wie Essen und guter Wein. Passt einfach perfekt zusammen. Gerade wenn es ein Mix dieser Art ist. Sehr fein.

Their music blends ambient with patches of static, garbled radio transmissions and disembodied voice bytes. This music revels in mystery, layered with lush synthetic chords, suggesting something akin to a long scuba dive in the waters of an alien world.
CBL’s sound design remains immaculate and its a revelation to hear the duo apply their craft to the 20 beatless, drone-based compositions of this mix.
Der großartige Patrice Baumel hat am Wochenende bei BBC 1 für einen Essential Mix gesorgt, der sehr genau hervorbringt, warum er zur Zeit einer der interessantesten Techno DJs sein dürfte. Das spiegelt sich natürlich auch in seinen aktuellen Produktionen wieder, die so gut wie alle ungehört gekauft werden können.
A little more than a year ago, after yet another bender in Ibiza, I decided I had to clean up my life in a big way, say goodbye to drugs and alcohol and treat this profession with the respect that you listeners, dancers and promoters deserve. It has helped me to contribute to the scene in a more meaningful way, connect and work with so many incredible people around the globe, learn more, love more and find true purpose in my life. I feel it’s no coincidence that the opportunity to do a BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix came now, after so many years of trying and mostly failing. I really had to fucking earn it first. Life lessons.

Ich habe in den letzten beiden Jahren wenig so hart gefeiert wie die Produktionen von Daniel Goldstein aka Lane 8. Pete Tong nannte den Amerikaner im Jahr 2015 „Future Star“ und hat damit zumindest in meinen Ohren absolut Recht behalten. Kaum ein anderer kann aktuell so schön emotionalen Techno, ohne dabei in Kitsch zu ersaufen. Seine Tracks und Remixe sorgen auf den Dancefloor immer wieder für Glückseligkeit und verträumt grinsende Gesichter. Immer wahnsinnig gutes Zeug.
Hier hat er seine aktuellen Lieblingstracks in einen Mix gepackt – für den Herbst. Und wenn das der Herbst ist, müssen wir den Sommer nicht vermissen. Zumindest nicht für die nächsten zwei Stunden und 25 Minuten.

Ich habe in letzter Zeit gerne Sachen der beiden Karlsruher Landhouse & Raddantze gespielt. Immer ziemlich deep, immer ziemlich unaufgeregt und manchmal mit einer kleinen Prise Trance. Schon vor ein paar Wochen haben sie für die Voyage of Spirits Reihe diesen Mix eingespielt, der das sehr treffend zu vermitteln weiß.

Eigentlich wollte ich mir ab Morgen auf dem Nexus Festival meine alljährliche Portion Psytrance abholen. Einmal im Jahr muss das immer noch sein. Dummerweise haben die Veranstalter das Festival abgesagt, so das nicht nur mein dafür schon sortiertes Set ausfallen wird. Ich muss mir meine Portion Psytrance aus der Konserve zuführen. Da trifft es sich gut, dass Piet und Ralf von Protonica gerade erst die neuste Ausgabe ihrer Assorted Waves Mix Serie in die Cloud geladen haben. Ich war darauf vorhin ein paar Stunden in Berlin unterwegs und grinste satt vor mich her. Sonne schien auch. Alles passte perfekt, nur ein Dancefloor mit Vier-Punkt-Beschallung hat gefehlt, aber man kann nun mal nicht alles haben.

Wenn ich an einem Freitag wie diesen mal ausnahmsweise schon mittags Feierabend habe, setze ich mich danach gerne mal in den Garten, lass mir die Sonne auf den Pelz brennen und höre dazu alten Soul. Später dann ein paar Drinks und das sommerliche Leben genießen.
