In ihrem Kurzfilm „ Voice Above Water “ besucht die in San Francisco lebende Regisseurin Dana Frankoff den 90-jährigen Fischer Wayan in seinem Haus auf Bali und begleitet ihn bei seiner täglichen Routine, die nicht mehr das Fischen sondern das Einsammeln von Plastikmüll ist.
VOICE ABOVE WATER is the story of a 90-year-old Balinese fisherman who can no longer fish because of the amount of plastic pollution in the ocean, instead he collects trash in hopes of being able to fish again. The story is a glimpse into how one human is using his resources to make a difference and a reminder that if we all play our part we can accomplish something much greater than ourselves.

Einen Kommentar hinterlassenDas menschenlose Tauchroboterunterwasserboot (Mein Wort!) ROV SuBastian war für das Schmidt Ocean Institute im Ningaloo Reef vor Australien unterwegs und bringt in 4K Aufnahmen von so manchen Unterwasserwesen mit, die bisher wohl kaum keiner von uns kannte. Voll schön.
The humanless dive used the ROV Sebastian, a robotic underwater vehicle that can bear the pressure of 14,750 feet below water for lengthy durations, far more than people are capable of. The sperm whale is the largest toothed predator on Earth and perhaps the most gentle of all the whales we have had the pleasure of spending time with. @mitty is beautifully positioned to capture a peaceful moment of a sleeping mother. Able to dive to depths of over 6,000 feet, they are the second deepest diving animals on the planet. They travel to these unfathomable, perpetually inky depths to feed on squid. A lot of the whales we are encountering still have squid tentacles hanging out of their mouths as you can see here. After continuously diving to such extreme depths, the whales then park themselves vertically in the water column and go to sleep. What a privilege it is to have a tiny glimpse into the complex lives of these gentle giants.

Chris Bryan war als Kameramann für des BBCs „Blue Planet II“ verantwortlich, liebt es, das Meer zu filmen und hat offenbar einen Faible für Slow Motion Aufnahmen. Beides in Kombination lässt ihn fast unwirkliche Szenen aufzeichnen, die sich da draußen in den Ozeanen von Natur aus halt so abspielen. Und das sieht wahnsinnig gut aus. Nicht weniger gut: der Sound dazu.
The feeling of jumping off the rocks in the dark by myself just to capture the very first rays of light hitting the ocean without another sole in sight is unexplainable, its one of the most amazing feelings ever, its like my own personal therapy.
And to realise that you’re the only person on this planet that got to witness these rare moments of absolute beauty as they happen is a really special feeling.
And now im excited to share my experiences with you through my latest passion project „MOCEAN“.

Keine Ahnung, wie die klingt und wie nachhaltig die auch spielbar bleiben werden, aber die Idee ist mehr als gut. Nick Mulvey hat sich mit ein paar Leuten zusammengetan, um eine 10″ Vinyl zu produzieren, die einzig aus wiederverwendetem Plastik besteht, welches an der Küste von Cornwall aus dem Wasser geholt wurde. Die Einnahmen aus den digitalen Verkäufen, die hier getätigt werden können, kommen Surfers Against Sewage zu gute, die sich gegen die Verschmutzung der Küsten in Großbritannien einsetzen. Wenn das klingt und lange hält, könnte das von mir aus auch in Serie gehen. Das würde zwar das Plastik nicht verschwinden lassen, aber wenigstens einem praktischen Nutzen zuführen.
