Ein kurzer Blick durch die nostalgische Bewegtbildbrille nach Tokio, konkreter nach Akihabara, dem „Electronics District“ der japanischen Hauptstadt, der das Herz des japanischen Elektronikhandels sein dürfte und schon damals eine breite Palette an elektronischen Produkten anbot, die in der Zeit als neu und habenswert galten.
Der Filmemacher David Hoffman besuchte Akihabara im Jahr 1993 und sammelte seine dort gemachten Eindrücke auf Video.
Back in 1993 I got the chance to walk and shoot Tokyo’s computer district–called Akihabara or Electric Town. it seemed to me at the time that they were pretty far ahead of us in terms of the variety of electronic devices, all of which are classics now, and probably highly collectible. I do hope that my subscribers and others enjoy seeing this old computer stuff–filmed before the World Wide Web existed.
