Polarlichter im All: ISS – River of Light

Cosma creates Ultra High Definition video footage of planet Earth from space using ISS astronaut photography which is meticulously repaired, remastered and retimed for unprecedented high-fidelity spatial presence. Designed to educate, elicit awe and raise cosmic awareness, all of the films produced in this manner should be experienced on a large format display, along with a good sound system. The video footage contained in this film is independently produced, it is not created by NASA or sourced from any NASA server.

Imagery from 13 time-lapse sequences photographed by Samantha Cristoforetti, Shane Kimbrough, Megan McArthur & Thomas Pesquet on ISS Expeditions 65, 66 & 67 is repaired, remastered and retimed. Tens of thousands of additional frames are created to complete this 4x, 8x & 16x real time video footage. A method called frame interpolation is used to calculate the extra video frames required to re-create the smooth motion of ISS orbiting Earth.
