Kitty Recreates Space Mission

„The star of our video is our Ragdoll kitten, Fleur. She is a big character who loves to show off to other humans. We wanted to do a video of her taking off in a spaceship to escape Coronavirus. We created the effect by strapping a wide-lens Go-Pro and our phones for lighting into our washing machine. We held Fleur still at the entrance and spun the machine by hand, with a slow-motion setting. It only took a couple of seconds to film, but the slow-motion makes it look longer and gives the effect of floating in space.“

Detaillierteste Aufnahmen der Sonne

Das Inouye Solar Teleskop hat von Hawaii aus die bisher detailliertesten Aufnahmen der Sonne gemacht. Die pulsierenden Plasmawellen sehen aus als würde die Sonne atmen.

We have now seen the smallest details on the largest object in the solar system,” said Inouye telescope director Thomas Rimmele during a January 24 news teleconference.

Covering an area 36,500 kilometers across — roughly three times the diameter of Earth — the images show familiar bubbles of plasma percolating up from the depths. In the dark lanes between the bubbles, newly resolved clusters of bright points appear at the roots of magnetic fields that stretch out into space.

Die Erde bei Nacht aus Sicht der ISS

Kurzer Break am Dienstagvormittag – die Woche ist dafür ja schon alt genug.

‚Night Flight‘ has been created using real photos of Earth taken by NASA astronauts aboard the International Space Station.

Sit back, relax and meditate on our beautiful home as the lights from across the world shine out into space.

Using software, we have turned this time-lapse photography into a real-time video reconstruction so we see our planet at the speed as it would have appeared from the ISS.

Raketenstart aus Sicht der ISS

Von Bord der Internationalen Raumstation aus fotografierte die Astronautin Christina Koch das Raumschiff Sojus MS-15, das nach seinem Start aus Kasachstan am Mittwoch in den Weltraum aufstieg. Nach einer sechsstündigen Reise in vier Umlaufbahnen legte die Sojus an die Raumstation an.

Fliegerkosmonaut Sigmund Jähn ist gestorben

Der Fliegerkosmonaut Sigmund Jähn ist einer derer, die bis heute für meine Faszination für Reisen im Weltraum verantwortlich sind. Weil ich mit seinen Erfahrungen groß wurde und sie lieben lernte. Gestern ist Jähn im Alter von 82 Jahren gestorben. Er war der erste deutsche Raumreisende überhaupt – und kam aus der DDR.

Und irgendwie schön, dass die bei SpOn vom „Kosmonauten“ schreiben.

Mach’s gut, Fliegerkosmonaut.

Die Erde aus Sicht der ISS: Beautiful World

Mal wieder wirklich schöne Aufnahmen der 56. ISS-Expedition, die uns mal wieder daran erinnern, dass wir keinen zweiten Planeten im Kofferraum haben, den wir rausholen können, wenn der hier komplett im Arsch ist. Und vielleicht sieht der mittlerweile halt auch nur noch von da oben so erhaben, so wunderschön und so erhaltenswert aus.
